Well If they don't recall the notice as a premature decision based on stupid weather forcasters who make predictions that people take as the gospel truth , Anyone want to take a long drive through various backroads around raleigh or northern North Carolina?

I just checked the Weather Channel website and now they are predicting clearing by 9:00 am but still in the 40s for the Roxboro area. Well, we know there won't be anyone else on the track tomorrow, but I guess that we'll all have to wait until next week to run. Hope everyone can get off next Friday.

Greg, you'll have to tell the guys at Harry's that you've experienced a miracle and are healed, at least for a few days.

I guess I'll go get my 7 inspected tomorrow and do some Christmas Shopping! We're still having the Saturday Drive in this weekend and I can guarantee that it won't be rescheduled dur to weather!

Don't forget that next weekend Phil Sohn is supposed to be flying in to RDU and we'll arrange a meet somewhere with him. I do have to work next weekend from 4:00 PM to midnight so I probably won't be able to make that gathering. I guess the RRDI can introduce him to the Char Grill or someplace a little nicer.

I can't believe that they have postponed it! My boss won't give me that Friday off too! I will try but....

At the risk of showing my ignorance, who is Phil Sohn and why is he coming and when is the meet?

What time is he meeting us? We'll take some back roads and stuff that weekend if the weather is nice. I'll PM him and get the details. We will be doing our Christmas lights drive that weekend, anyway... so that should be perfect!

I should be able to make it and my son, Dan, will be coming up with me in his Subaru. He was the guy last year that didn't want to get behind any RX7s that might spinout and slow HIM down.

VIR Holiday Laps are Back On for Friday

The Holiday Laps event is back on for VIR this coming Friday, Dec 16. Looks like we'll have a good group leaving from Raleigh Friday morning. If you are interested post up the weather forecast is for high 40's and mostly sunny all day. Check the thread for gathering place and departure time from Raleigh.

As I posted in the RRDI thread, I shall be in attendance, with possibly the only Miata in the group. I'll try not to leave everyone in the dust in the turns as long as everyone doesn't fly by me in the straights

Very sorry to hear that Bobby. For everyone else that will be going here is the latest weather forecast from The Weather Channel for the Roxboro area: Clouds and sun mixed in the morning, then generally sunny for the afternoon. High around 50F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph.

Here is the forecast for Danville, Va: Mainly sunny. High 49F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Great day for driving and we should have a pretty good turnout. So far it looks like Lance and Nic for the RX8s and Ray, Joey, Johny and I from the RX7s, maybe Maxx and my son in his Subaru. All are welcome to join the caravan which will be leaving Caribou Coffee at 9:00 AM.

Dunno, we'll be there, as long as we are not the only ones.

I will not be donning the RX-7, as it's down for minor repairs that it's too cold to perform. I will be driving the most girly of cars tomorrow

Gary, are you going after all? Great to hear but sorry you had to quit your job. At least know that you made the right decision. You can always find another job! Yes, breakfast is still on for those that want it at the Cracker Barrel at 07:30. See you and Doug there.

Joey, It is ok to bring the MX5, at least that sounds more masculine. We'll not tease you too much, as long as you're confident in what you drive we'll respect you for that.

Doug, I'll meet y'all there at 7:30.

Ray Caribou Coffee is at the third entrance for Briar's Creek if you are coming in from Glenwood. It is not located in the row of businesses between BJs wholesale and Dicks Sporting Goods, it would be about middle way along the shopping center on the opposite side from those stores. If you have trouble just call me on my cell, 247-3884.

See everyone at Caribou around 9:00 AM. It is gonna be fun!!!!!!!

LOL..no I didn't have to quit my job. I just ahd to align all 10 planets in a row and sacrafice three virgins (well they we're almost virgins).

I did make it out to the Holiday laps... and I am so glad I did. It was a complete blast. I think most of us did 3 runs. The first run was good to get used to the track and where the curves, bends, straights, etc were. I didn't push it too hard on that run, but I was able to hit a couple nice squelches on a curve or two and did hit 100 MPH on one of the straights. The second run wasn't as good due to a few drivers in front hat either slowed way down during the straights so they could barrel around a curve, or other cars just not wanting to push it at all. But the third run.. that was by far the best one. There were the two previous to build yup the confidence and only one car right infront to cause issues. On that run there was a lot of skidding around curves and even hitting 105 on the old speed-o-meter. Could have been faster if it wasn't for the one previously mentioned slow-poke.
But all in all a great experience, and really showed how great the RX-8 handles.
**will post pics as soon as I download and touch up.

We will be doing this same kind of thing (touring laps behind a pace car) during lunch on Saturday Feb 18, 2006 at VIR's 3.3 mile Full Course as part of the NASA Mid-Atlantic (www.nasaracing.net) track weekend.

I'm not sure of the cost but it should be less than $20. And it'll be $10 if you're signed up for the autocross on the Patriot Course that day, see here:

https://www.rx7club.com/se-rx-7-forum-35/vir-autox-sat-feb-18-a-491815/

Thanks,

Jon
