Holiday Laps '08 @ VIR
I made this post for those in NC, but if you can make this event from outside of NC, come on!
VIR is hosting Holiday Laps for the Salvation Army once again this year. The Salvation Army and the NC Rotaries request the presence of all rotorheads to participate in this awesome event!
Cost: A donation of $25 cash, or equivalent of toys or non perishable food items w/ receipt...gets you a 20 min track pass.
You can donate as much as you want and receive more track sessions...laps are paced but are very, I repeat very spirited. I hit 124 on the back stretch so, it's not your typical parade lap session. It's not a race, helmets are not required, and all drivers drive at their own risk. Any damage to the track or your vehicle will be your responsibility.
Location/Time: VIR main paddock, gates open at 8am and sessions end at 4pm, Nov14th.
There were over 150 cars at this event lastyear, and it only gets bigger every year it's held. I will try and organize a Mazda only session once I see what kind of participation we have at the track.

Sounds like fun! It is on my day off which is sweet since I am going to Road Atlanta the weekend prior. Thanks for the headsup. Do we need to register with anyone or just show up. Is there a cut-off to the amount of cars accepted for laps?( first come first serve?)

No registration, just show up and drive. They usually get about 20-25 cars on track at a time. They normally have 3 lines to get into, but mostly it's first come first serve...our group normally gets 3-4 sessions, I've seen some get in 5 or 6 though, really just depends on how early you get there.
Also, I forgot to add...there is a photographer there that takes pictures of every session and everyone will be granted one FREE 8x10 hi-def photo of their car on track!

What time are you guys getting there? I am driving up Friday morning and trying to figure out a departure time. I am thinking if I get there at 8 am I should be good yeah? What time do the sessions start usually?
Thanks, Dave
Thanks, Dave
Was way tooooo much fun, I only spun out once. It was wet, rainy and warm. Small turnout overall so instead of 4 runs I got 6. I also won a raffle to ride in a McLaren Can Am car... no way in hell I was gonna fit in it so I gave the ride to someone else.
