What in the world is there to do in Memphis??? Im not into the bar scene and I dont drink.. so what is there to do? Honestly I heard it was ghetto.. a major crime area...

Ill be there from 01-20-06 to 01-23-06... and i dont know what part of memphis it is either....

 

hehe, good ole memphis. . . tis known worldwide. youll be fine for the couple days youll be there. ive never had any desire to do any "hanging out" in memphis, so i dont know what there is to do there, except to be a part of the crime spree. hehe, i doubt its THAT bad. just keep your doors locked, money close, and cell phone handy.

whats funny is that ill be that way on the same dates. not in memphis though. i have guard drill in jackson on the 21st and 22nd. ill be there on the night of the 20th, and leave on the 22nd.

 

memphis motor sports park, 1/4 mile drag, memphis grizzles, eat at the Rondevuz down town, its the best ribs you will ever eat.

couple of friends who live there call it memfrica, cause its pretty dark these days.

Beale baby! Music and booze is all there is in Memphis.


Rendevous sucks. The only place to get ribs is King's palace. They are the only place in memphis that smokes their ribs as far as I know.

If you want to stay out of the bars, there is the gibson guitar factory that does tours, graceland, sun records, civil rigths museum, A decent Zoo, mud island, etc. ..

 

If you can try and stay in NW MS. Southaven or Horn Lake or even Olive Branch.

I'm just a few miles south of Memphis and do not go there.

There are several of us 7 guys in the area..

 

I usually always recommend beale street to anyone coming here. But since you don't drink that wouldn't be any fun. You can go to a grizzlies or university of memphis basketball game or just go eat at some good places. I recommend Bigfoot Lodge or Texas de Brazil downtown. If you’re in east memphis Folk's Folly has some really good steaks but kinda expensive, Buckley's is cheaper but still pretty good. Houstons is also a good place to eat in east memphis.

Memphis has some very ghetto areas but alot of it is alright. Especially the suburbs like germantown, collierville southaven, olive branch and cordova. If you’re staying in any of those then you shouldn't be too worried about any crime. But other than going to a movie or getting something to eat there is not much to do here. Unfortunately the dragstrip is closed this time of year and no autocross or car shows happening either.

 

Im going to have my 15 yr old lil brother there too.... he is into skateboarding and video games.. anything for him to do?
