Gainesville Road course test and tune
Hey all, I just checked the website for Gainesville road course, anyone interested in going? It would be a learning experience for my son and I.
Copied this from the website:

The morning and afternoon course will differ and offer challenges to both inexperienced and veteran drivers.
All Drivers Must Have a Helmet and Pass a Basic Tech Inspection.
Racecars must meet SCCA standards.
Course times are not provided. Please bring a friend and a stopwatch if you want your own times.
Call the track office for more information at 352-377-0046. Directions can be found on the Track Information page under Maps.
Here is the website: Gainesville Raceway
Just thought it would be fun. We would be taking the vert, and I have a couple of freinds who would be interested in going. One has a Bullit Mustang, and the other just bought a 72 Pantera, they both want to take their cars on the course.
Be nice to see a buch of RX7s there too.
Later,
Bill

G-ville open road course test and tune gives you the most bang for your buck. It's the most seat time you'll get at any event like this. Open course, minimum cones, very rarely is there a slolem. Only problem is that since it is test and tune there is no timing. Bring a stop watch or make friends with someone who has one. There are 2 different course layouts. One in the AM one in the PM. One is more technical, and the other is more about speed and proper line into and out of corners. Go for the full day and experience them both.
I wanna ride in the Pantera by the way. I will own one someday....maybe....
Look into Brevardmotorsports.org
They rent out the track privately every now and then and run 10 minute open course sessions. Lots of fun without the hassle of ....for lack of a better description....crazy rednecks shooting at port o potties.

The roadcourse and dragstrip are two seperate areas. They don't have much in the way of amenities at the road course area (bring drinks, food, cover/canopy generator) anything you may need as there no electric the area where the race gas is kept isn't open till 4pm on the weekends and the roadcourse will be over shortly after it opens. You can always do the road course in the AM, kick back for a bit and drag that night. Sam haven't heard from you in a bit hows everything going (haven't talked to Quinn either) Jack
The morning group tenda to have more people in it (so as to beat the heat) most everyone has gotten upwards of 10 to 15 runs depending on how much you want to put your car through. I can tell for a fact if your running old fluid your breaks will fail if your very aggressive with them.
Since I am a Noob at this, is there anything specific that I need to bring? Also, our car is completely stock, Is there anything that I need to check over on it before coming?
Am looking forward to meeting you guys.

hey whats up everyone, haven't been around in awhile. extremely busy! try to make it out to at least watch. I'll be out tomorrow night (tuesday) for the meeting, which i havn't been to in a month either. crikey!
you will not get into top gear... you might, depending on the course setup, get into 3rd briefly on some of the straights.
You should check all the normal things you check before any autocross/day at the track.
-make sure all your fluid levels are full and fresh
-make sure everything is in good working order
-check your tires tread/PSI (expect to kill some tire life if your haveing a good time)
-take out any and all loose articles in the car
-SCCA rules mandate that the floor mats come out of the car, the track doen not make you do that, however many people still do it as a safty precausion.
-FIND someone with a helmet otherwise you will be stuck. I do not think the track loans out helmets. Some of the local guys have a bunch of loaner helmets and they may bring them out there
-make some new friends, and hang out with some old ones
I might be out there in my z(i have been feening for some seat time)! If i can get my wifes intercooler and airbox inbefor then she may be out as well for a few morning runs!
I will see you all on tuesday this week after i get out of class!

^^ Bringing good rotary, so far it hasn't been rotary. LOL.
There are about 10 guys who "may or may not come down with me, with a variety of cars. I'm bringing my cube cooler to hold ice and drinks... Should we bring a table top grill and do dogs or something? Getting some dogs, buns and stuff at Sams would be alot cheaper than eating out.
I have a little gas grill and some propane..... How about it, anyone else want to do a little cookout or something?

Someone else may need to bring a grill also. The hard part for me is where to put stuff in the vert. I think can get the grill in the trunk, but I think that I am going to have to have one of my buds carry the cube. My son is going with, so I cant put it in the pass seat.
I wont be able to leave Jax until about 8:30. I know that is a little late for the morning session, but I have a prayer meeting at church that goes from 6:30 to about 7:30 or so. Then I come home get my stuff and be ready to roll.
What time is everyone heading to the track? Some of my buds will be heading down early and some will be getting down there around noon.
Is it gonna be just hot dogs?
Anyone bringing a portable canopy/tent?
I know this is all last minute. Don't forget to bring chairs!!

RX' suck for hauling anything more than a change of clothes. I'l have a couple chairs small cooler, will bring water to throw in someones cooler that has room. Seems like the group may be spread out between morning and afternoon session. Thers a state park with grills aprox 8 to 19 miles from the track we could use if we don't cook right at the track (best option). They have a consessions trailer but they charge like 3bucks for a bottle of water so you can imagine what food is.Sams could be on the way to the park if we go that route or we could make a last minute run if we do it at the track I'll look into some burgers & chips tonight.
I didn't go the 1 block away to get race tires on extra wheels, so the 7 stays home. I might be up to look at car I am interested in buying and come out to track anyway. I will bring what I posted and probably some water/drinks. Have fun, and when I get my next car I will be out there. My TII is up for sale in 2nd gen section and I have to sell this week or next. I have offer for 4,000 on a 6,000 obo. this car is worth every cent of 6k and will take best offer over the 4k I have now. Also looking for next ride, let me know what's out there
I'm leaving about 830 am. Will be stopping at Walmart/Sams on the way. Most of my freinds wont be coming untl afternoon. I'm gonna grab a couple of packs of dogs, buns and drinks. I'm still trying to figure out how to carry the cube. Might have to have my son hold it on his lap.... don't want to do that, but we'll figure out something.
See ya in the am,
