Vg30deracer, you missunderstood. If you re-read what I said, You and most of your friends are allowed to use or rent our track at any time. We did not have any problem from you. It was your "co-coordinator" ( at least thats what he told me he was) and some of his freinds That will not be renting our track again. They may attend our events but not have one of their own. You know who I am speaking of because you appolagized for them at your event. It was because of them that I had to be so forcefull with my rules. When I flag a driver and he doesent stop because he is hidding a passenger, it gets me angry, especially when I told him and his passenger "NO" twice already. I should not have to step in front of a 1200+hp car on a hot lap just to get GIR rules sunk in to anyones head. I am their for your safety, not to budge the rules so people can have more fun. I also do not like being offered bribes to break the rules, but, you may not have been around for that.
That group was copmpletely out of your control and mine. I did not blame you for that once you explained to me you did not expect or invite so many cars. Trust me, I know more than anyone that one guy can only control so many people. If you had told us you were going to have 40 cars and 20 spectators rather than just 20 cars, we would have had more people ready to help. We give all renters a specifice contract that limits the number of cars they can have for a said price, and it gives some ground rules. Managing the event is then up to the renter. I am only there for safety.
Now, from one car guy to another, I would like to let this go. I am on here to advertise for GIR, not argue over past events. I also do not want you to think you have to be shady to rent our track. You are still cool with me and the staff at GIR. I personally thought you were a nice guy, your wife is very friendly. I was only getting lip from some people in attendance. If I didnt already work there; I would attend your events. We won't let a few bad apples blow your next event.

Yes, drifting is allowed. Don and I know drifting is part of racing. Who am i kidding, it also makes money and we are a business. Let me know when you would like the event to be or which one you will be attending and I will vouch for you and the drifters personally to Don. However, would you say these drifters are as controlled as Travis, better or worse. Because the standard 3 strike rule will apply. You can only go off a few times before we ask that you stick to grip driving for the remainder of the event. I hope this is settled so we can go back to being car guys. I will call you, any further discussion can be done over the phone.

Oh, westjaxvert, laughing at the noobs is the whole reason for going, youll be laughinf too.

But seriously, i did this so people would be informed and come out to get some seat time. If ur gonna be dicks, then dont bother comin.

Hey now, this is the interweb. There is no harsh feeling. You can't hear peoples tones. I love that we have a track here in town. I think it is awesome that GIR lets people drift. I was just misinformed on this matter, and tried to clarify my misinformation, as I was surprised to hear that drifting is allowed. I can't say anything bad about GIR except for the whole grass thing and one particular desk person.

Everyone should go to this to improve thier driving and have a good time! Plus, we should all try to support such a great event. Your thread did exactly what it was supposed to do...inform...well, after some hearsay info and whatnot... Don't get angry over questions, especially over the internet.
We will try to be there Sat., although we have to work, so may just come spectate. Are spectators allowed?
We are friendly...I swear.

Hey man, you know there were never any hard feelings. I was upset with the way management handeled itself, and I expressed that to you from the beginning. I know you and your guys had a job to do, and I as well as my wife did what we could to control the situation as best we could. The car rolling a day before our event did not help things out on your end, I am sure you guys were all on edge with that just happeneing.

I do plan on running another event, and I will be more selective about who comes and how many spectators show up. I believe the number of "leg humppers" is what got this event "out of control".

I still do not agree with the idea that if i have more cars I must pay more money because of "wear and tear on the track surface" as don put it. Regardless of how many cars are out there the style of event we run keeps the track surface "hot" for as long as possible regardless of the number of cars. I know I like to run multipul cars under my one spot in rotation, as do alot of other people... so I will be more clear about this upon my next contract signing.

My wife and I will try to make it out on saturday to show support for these events.

Also, the drifters we might bring are travis and his crew....... His RB s13 is bad ***!

Spectators are $5 a piece i believe. And you are not allowed to have passengers in your car. You can switch cars at any time with other drivers, if u want.

Well, I have the track rented for Feb 18th and asked if drifting was allowed and was told no. Not a big deal though as it usually brings a bunch of "leghumpers" as Sam calls them.

Sam, go ahead and see if Travis can come out. I think We have 18 drivers right now, so 2 more would be fine. Sounds good. Let me know. Call me later if you talk to him.

vg30deracer, ha, I know of the "Desk person" you speak of. I wish I could help with the contract end of things, but thats for the office types to take care of. Feel free to ask me any questions before hand though. Yes, we are protective of our grass. When the grooves get to deep cars start flipping, insurance goes up, and you start paying more. We also have other big name events and we like to keep the track shinny. In the long run you guys all get to come to a facility that looks the same each time too. Hope too see you there. Hey, would you and some of the other people on this thread like to go to Sunnys after the event and share some ideas, or will you be working.

SLOW 7- we have a three strike polocy on going off track. If you can keep it on the pavement you can drift till your tires blow; If you can't, stick to grip once you use all your warnings. I tell you what, come out to the test n tune on Feb. 10. I'll get in my car and drift, you can watch my bosses face( that would be Don) and see if he is even remotely surprised. I am so sorry you guys aren't getting all the facts from the office. Its not all their fault, some of the girls still don't know what drifting is, I'm trying, but some women; oh nevermind. They are trained to say 'NO' to anything that sounds dangerous.

ALSO- If the drifters really show out at the next few events, I will GUARANTEE a parkinglot drift event with no off tracks to worry about. But I need your help in showing there is money in it, and that people will show up. With your help Iwill do my best to plan it away from all other events. What do ya think,

I understand the 3 offs rule and I enforce and agree with it fully.

I know it's not the office girls fault for not knowing about drifting or whatever. I completely understand that as I have to deal with office women every day in the workplace.

So are you gonna be the one "keeping us safe" on the 18th?

They use the same inspection you'd have to pass for SCCA events. Typical street car, no lose items in the car, all lug nuts present, some tread on the tires, battery held down (solid not a bungee type setup) no fluids leaking. They don't have car class's (run anything you have ) see above criteria doesn't have to be licensed (trailer cars ok) They are very leniant with the exception of safety, if you can't control your car they will ask you to leave (even if you stay on the pavement) I.E. 360's, 720's not allowed there are people out there on the course (not really flagging or anything) they don't want injured. If you can drift they'll let you. Jack

You mean the POS is running, hell even if you donn't run it would be worth the trip just to see you put some road time on it. LOL If they have one next month and I'm off I'll be there.....it's fun, we just need some timming to make it worth while. Jack

I plan on going again...I had a lot of fun this past time. It would have been to see some more 7's there. BTW...I took the RX-8 down this past time. The vert is still down. Someday Jack...someday. When I smoke you, I'm sure the look on your face will be priceless!

Hey Jack, How's it goin? Bill Jr and I want to come down again, but I gotta fix the oil cooler lines on the vert. If we are able to make it, I want Bill Jr to do some laps. I know we cant have passengers, but was told that I could take him on a couple of slow laps to show him what to look for, when to shift, brake, etc. Then I want to do a couple of slow laps with him driving, just to make sure he has it all under control. I sold the FB to a freind of mine, so he might be interested in coming down also.

Later,
Bill Sr.

Dan,
Hope to see you when you can get down here. Hey Bill....been awhile, I know Bill Jr. can't wait to do it. Better to find the limits there than on the road ! ! ! Keep me posted when you might make it down and if I'm off I'll come on out. I need to get off my butt and get some work done on my car....the weather has been too nice for me not to get out and work on it. Jack

Rob,
Nothing happening till after the Gator Nationals are over. April 14th. is the next date if anyone whats to plan on that one. The latest format is 6 hours of track time (as many runs as you can get in in that amount of time) $40 for the day it used to be two 4 hr. sessions for $30 for one session or $50 for both. I like the 6 hr. session as I don''t have to be there so early for the first one and can space my runs out so as not to beat on the car toooo hard. Jack
