GA Emissions help Atlanta area

Anyone have a friend or know a guy that will take a couple of bucks to pass emissions. I just need to have a pass sheet so that I can registrar the car and drive it for the next 3 months. It wont have to pass emissions next year.

Any help would be great

I don't know anyone but I had a similar problem not too long ago. I went to the tag office thinking the car was old enough not to require emissions (it was a 1st gen), but was told it indeed did need them. I asked if I could have a temporary tag or something until I could get it done, got one for a month or so, and then went and did the same thing a month later to get another temp tag. Then less than a month from that time it had rolled around to another year and I got it registered without having to have an emissions test.

And now, I thankfully live in a county that doesn't require it at all...

That's not a bad idea, did you have to bring a bill of sales and all of that everytime? Do we just go to the DMV to get our tag?

A couple local guys told me to put a can of denatured alcohol in when you're at 1/8 tank. Drive it straight to the emission place and you'll pass.

I've heard this as well, had a Miata friend do it and pass with flying colors. Never heard of someone doing it in a rotary though, but maybe it's worth a shot. Home depot has it in the same section as paint thinner and acetone.

I actually live in tucker right outside of Atlanta where 85 and 285 meet.

The alcohol thing works but you have to be at least trying to pass I have a down pipe where the front cat needs to be and no air pump. I'm def not passing this legally.

Have you tried it? Guy that told me about it has an FD running single, with downpipe and no air pump. he claims to pass every year.

I have done the denatured alcohol thing and have passed emission twice back when i owned an FD. 1/4 of gas, no more, no less, and 1 gallon of denatured alcohol from home depot. The key is to drive the car hard for about 15-30 mins prior, pulled over to gas station, dump 1 gallon of the alcohol stuff into tank, and drive straight to the emission place. I also lean out the cells around the are where the guy was testing at that particular load and speed, and it helps as well. High flow cat, stock seq. twins running PFC and simplified seq. setuip. No problem at all.

Yea see rotorypolo has cats. The only way it would work for me is if I ran 100% alchohl. Other I think my hydrocarbons will be through the roof. Alchohal went burnt produces 0 hydrocarbons, another reason my are gasoline has about 15% already.

I couldn't believe it lol. So I got a before and after pics of my emissions. I'm running no Front cat, I do have a mid cat in and no air pump. Once the gas light came on I drove about 8 miles on the hwy then pulled over and poured a gallon of denatured alcohol I bought at home depot ($15) drove another 4 miles to get it all mixed up in the tank. Here's the result!

Almost nobody checks for cats. I pulled up in my Mazda B2300 (it's a ford ranger really) with the one and only cat SPLIT IN TWO PIECES . Most of the exhaust dumping right out of the cat ... loud as hell.

Inspector walks up with a mirror on a stick. "Oh crap" I think to myself. He quickly swings it by the underside of the driver side door. The exhaust is on the passenger side! He jumped in, got it going on the rollers, tested it, and BAM it passed.

Here is what I learned from that experience and several after ... inspection station techs do not care (not an actual automotive technician). He merely waved the mirror so he could claim he did his part of the inspection and if he were being audited he could claim he just made a mistake.

I'm glad to see denatured alcohol works ... I would still be very cautious about it. If I ever need to try it I expect I'll be driving at no more than 7% throttle. I'd try and find an inspection station right next to a gas station to and fill that sucker right back up with good gas.
