Lightbulb Eastern Carolina local meet soon!

My car is finally running after over a year and a half. I will be looking forward to getting together with the local Rx7 guys in my area. Pipe in if your interested and when we can all meet, where etc. I am located in Havelock NC about 25 minutes from the beach and just outside the Cherry Point Marine base.

Hey,

Well that’s cool, now let me update you on where my car is at (rebuilt it). The following conditions need to be addressed so far. No primary boost condition at the present time. I will be wrenching on this starting tonight and through out the weekend. I am taking off Monday and continue to put panels back on detail the whole car ( body shop dust everywhere ). I have my column gages to install. The biggie is I have to get it inspected too. That shouldn't be a problem, because its a 93 so everything is just a visual! Just need the time. Oh and because I have a JDM rear bumper cover I have to build a license plate holder for that. Lots to do. After this week end I will know more I was hoping to get to the RRDI get together on the 8th too. I need some drive time though before I decide its really that road worthy. I will Pm you on my progress!

Great now were up to two! A good start, I know of at least two guys up here at Cherry Point with Seven's. Then again I heard that one was damaged recently. I worked on my car to night and I should have it road capable by next week end. I plan major work this weekend to complete a few minor projects. I will post middle next week results of my work and we can set a date, time and place.

Car update,

Gave up on the two stroke oil tank I presently have laying on the fender. My newly purchased tank is out for delivery with Fedex today. Last weekend I pulled the fender looking for some space to install it, thats how desperate I was! Looks like I will get the new one installed tonight and get the car inspected Friday or Saturday! I go on vacation the 28th for a week so a meet will have to wait until Aug sometime. Post some dates you may be able to make. I will pick one and go with it. Then I will set another date to maybe meet with those who couldn't make the first meet! The nearest goal will be to meet with the guys/gals at RRDI (Raleigh Rotary Drive) They meet every month on the fourth Saturday. I would like nothing better than to roll in to their meet with a bunch of sevens from the coast! Here is the link to their Site. http://rrdi.org./ If that goes well I would like to cruse Fayetteville to meet the guys/gals of rotarywerx club. Here is the link to thier site.

The more 7's at the RRDI the better, I think us 8 owners had them out numbered 2:1 last meet...oh, and we meet the 2nd and 4th Sat every month.

Way to go. I know there are several rotary owners that come up to our drive ins from easteren NC. I'll do what I can to help you guys out. Jason has been driving up to Raleigh for a couple of years now and goes on our weekend trips and to Deals Gap. I know he'd appreciate something closer to Camp LeJeune - no maybe not, the further the better. Nic is from Goldsboro, Eric is stationed at Pope AFB and we met a few eastern NC RX8 onwers when we drove down for the Brits and Battleship Car Show in Wilmington last November. We hold the Grand Rotary Rally of NC each fall and would be glad to do it some where this year that would be convenient for the rotarians from the west and from eastern NC to drive to. Talk to Eric on the Saturdays in Raleigh forum and find out what he has been able to do in the Fayetteville area, I know he is interested in getting an eastern NC group up and going.

I'm in, sorry it took so long to respond. Terry, i say we get a small beach cruiz day, maybe start in swansboro and end up at atlantic and park there and hang out on the beach or somthing. We at least need to include the guys from j-ville, i know they would be in.

Hey bert! I don't know if you remember me, but i was at the first GRR with my light blue FB...I've since sold that and bought me an FD, so I deff need to get to some meets now...and maybe now i can keep up

Thanks to those posting and the invite, I am keeping my fingers crossed, because everytime I get close to traveling somethings prevents it. I have been interested in starting some regular meets on this side of the state for a couple of years. Some of us did meet a long time ago out on Emeral Is. There was talk with Ren, (turboren) one of the moderators on this forum for hitting up the outerbanks and it fell through. I know he hangs with guys in SC when he's in town. He was able to come by my house a while back to meet me, see the car and talk, but couldn't stay long. I know he will be interested in our success here.
If everything goes right this time I expect to meet everyone soon.

Car has pasted inspection!! Time to put some local miles on it and test reliability. Once I am comfortable, my travel distance will increase. There is alot to do before I share it with the clubs. It is much past due a full detail, wax etc. I am really hyped about it though, it has been a long road getting here$$

I plan on posting my rebuild pics, mod pics, etc. soon.

Back from vacation and should be working on the car this weekend. I need to check codes and change plugs. I may be swapping out my smog pump too, don't know yet.

Well, the weather is holding me down so far this weekend and I have to do the brakes on my wifes van when it clears. Guess it gives me time to think through some ideas I have on fixing my small irritating problems. I really want to get some close to home miles on the car before I venture to far.

Breakin update,
I extended my ground wire to reach back to one of my starter bolts. I don't remember where it was suppost to connect, as I didn't mark it and the engine was out for months! I suspect that the extra hollamar on the housings made the ground path very resistant seeing it had a long way to travel. I did sand all the engine bay grounding points while the engine was out so I know they are all good. Anyways it seems to turn over good so far. Before it would take several key turns to get it to turn. Lots of lights and clicking but that was it. I drove to Newport and came back to Havelock three times tonight and boy with the new plugs it was a different car!

I have a boyscout camp out this weekend so everyone chime in on thier best date to hold a kick off meetup. I can make Saturdays best, but Sundays after church are good too. I may be busy Aug 26th and 27th I think. September seems open for now.
Lets make it happen.

No special place for the first meetup. Its mostly to meet some people, talk shop, experiences etc. Then we can plan a more adventureous trip. Like I said earlier I would like to take a bunch of us coasters west to meet some other seven guys in Raleigh and Fayetteville. I know there are some guys up in Greenville too if I can get up with them.
