East TN meet (Knoxville) 8-26-06

Saturday, August 26th

All East TN (or wherever the hell you're from, we don't care) RX-7's and rotaries invited. We'll be meeting in the closed Target parking lot next to the Sonic on N. Broadway, and we'll probably just pull in to Sonic and eat. Directions:

http://www.google.com/maps?daddr=510...1,0.23243&om=1
5103 N Broadway St, Knoxville, TN 37918

I'll be sporting the Cheeto this time if it can make it down there. So who will be attending this time around?

They were 18x7.5" ADR's... I can't remember the name, what was it F.R.E.? They look damn good.

Alright guys, I wanna make the next meet a big one since October is one of the best months to own a car in TN, and it's gonna get nasty cold after that. So I'm thinking we have our next meet on the Dragon, perhaps at Fontana Dam? We could all meet in Maryville or a place of convenience and cruise up together or we could all meet up there. Either way, it would be a hell of a meet. Who's up for it? Have you ever driven up there Tweak?

What didn't you like about the Dragon? I've been up there at least a dozen times and it never gets boring. Oh well, to each his own I guess.

It's not that far from Sevierville, I'm pretty sure it'll be closer to you than most of us. As for winter driving, our winters here are typically mild unless you're in the mountains. I've lived here for 17 years and I can count the number of major snowstorms I've seen on two hands. It's rarely a problem, and if there is significant snowfall, everything usually closes anyway because people panic. Unless you're going to be in the high elevations near or in the mountains, I wouldn't worry about it. As far as our cars go, I've never had mine in the snow. I've got great tires for it but we haven't had a decent enough snow in the two years I've had it. I doubt a ~2800 lb RWD car is gonna do that well though.

I wish I could of gone as I planned to do, but a death in the family made me miss it. Ugh, oh well. I'll make the next one.

Sorry to hear that 5A. The good thing about bi-monthly meets is there's always the next one.

I'll give ya that Knox, people do drive crazy up there. Especially me

If people are down with it, I'd like to have the meet on a Sunday afternoon since it's a lot less crowded then Saturday.

to answer in order....

Tweak: The wheels are 18x7.5 ADR Sokudo, im not sure of its offset but ebay has two offsets in 17 and 18 inch wheels in 3 colors. i think the gold 18's are gonna run about 450+shipping....and i need a new set of rears anyway.
Winters in TN are nothing really, ive lived in MI before living here and my grey fc did wonderfully on the tiny *** phone dials.

Ill be down for the next big meet as well, looking forward to practice runs on the dragon as well.

5a: sorry to hear about the death as well, but I hope to see you at the next one.

Knox: we can do a mini if you wanna hang with the crew, though no reason to avoid the dragon if a passenger now is it?

Our next meet should be toward the end of October... I'd like to have it at Fontana Dam. I'm thinking either October 22 or 29, whichever is best for everyone else. Both days are Sundays, since traffic on the gap on a Saturday in October is going to be on the heavy side. Let's hear some feedback, I wanna get the date nailed down so I can start a topic and get people informed/interested. I look forward to seeing that new paint job!

I kept it as close to the stock VR as possible. I just need to start saving for the future rebuild/porting, wheels, and suspension now. Going to stretch as much out of the stock engine as possible, she is sitting at 56,000 now.

I am always up for a dragon meet. I will see what is going on and put my vote in for one of those two dates.

We usually have a meet every two months, however two months from late October is gonna hit right in the holidays so I'm not sure what's gonna happen there. We're always up for setting up mini meets though, so if you want to just come hang out with RX-7 owners sometime in November, just post on here and we'll figure something out. Welcome to the club!
