Does anyone know anyone hiring around the Birmingham/Tuscaloosa area?
My local job search keeps falling on its face. I can't even seem to find a job doing retail at the Riverchase Galleria. Does anyone know someone who's hiring locally? My main experience is in automotive repair, tuning, and welding (MIG/TIG); but I also have experience working in delivery and retail.
Does anyone know someone hiring? The only employment I've been able to find is out of state, and I currently don't have the income to move out, which is one of the things that complicated my last job.
Can anyone help?

Barber Motorsports Park was looking for somebody to start up/ run/ coordinate an on-site maintenance program for all their museum stuff a while back. They were specifically looking for somebody with MIG/TIG experience, lathe experience, general metal work, etc. Sounded like a dream for the right person, but my skills (sadly) don't run to that area. I guess I'm more of an office guy.
Anyway, I don't know if they ever found somebody or not- if they did, they might need somebody else by now. Never hurts to ask.
Good luck, and free bump. The local job market here tends to have much suck sometimes.

As to whether any of those people will be able to hook you up or pass a resume along, I dunno. They probably get 90000 resumes a year from Joe Bob NASCAR-Fan who bought a Hobart Handler 125 and put together a crooked non-square welding table or fixed the plow on his buddy's John Deere, so a cold resume may or may not get you anywhere, even if your skills are world-class. Getting a foot in the door at the museum via the volunteer program might be a start.

Thanks Phil.
I'm looking for something livable around $10-$15/hr or so, but I may have to settle for much less. I need to collect funds so I can move to North Carolina for a job oportunity there.

If you can do millwright work mcwane pipe is hiring, it's close to the airport. 205-322-3521. Ask for the HR dept. If you have any mech. background at all it's not that hard to get hired. They are starting millwrights out around 16-18.00 I think.
Also is there another RX in the gadsden area besides mine and Lewis C.????? I live in Glencoe.

Well, I just got a responce from Carmax a few days ago. They said I'm not what they're looking for. Damn. Still, it's nice that they actually get back to me and achknoledge me.
