I wonder what all is going on with the cops up there. I heard they are really cracking down on stupid **** too. Just go to the dragon site and see for yourself http://www.tailofthedragon.com/ this is one reason I may not go. Because the speed limit is now 30mph in the TN section which is the best section...

 

This year's event law enforcement seemed to be more leniant than last. G

 

I'll be coming thru there next weekend I have also heard from loads of bike people that they are really being dickish in the TN side. Not very welcoming of tourists.

 

I just hope the Chloalahdhalahlahlahlloloa skyway isnt as bad

 

The TN highway patrol AND blount county sherrifs office have always been dicks up there, ive even spotted some knox county officers working the dragon in unmarked SUV's. Its always crap on this side since they cant figure out just WHO is in charge of enforcing the laws up there, since it IS a national park as well as a state road.

 

if that is the reason you arent going to come then there is something wrong with you. its not a race track and there are far better roads in these mountains with no cops. i go simply to hang out and talk rotary for a weekend.

Every year someone seems to post about how bad the cops are or complain. It's nothing new. They are doing their job to protect everyone up there. It is a tourist trap and draws in a lot of retards. I mean... how many wrecks can we count on one day during the event from others that are not w/ DGRR? I can recall about 4 or 5 per day.

 

There were none at the first meet. No cops to worry about. Had a great time. That was 2005, and the last year I was able to go. I am still contemplating if I will go or not. And the "meet" part gets old after about an hour or 2. Then the damn tourists in mini-vans not pulling over for you even when they have the chance. Its just no fun to "cruise" the gap at 20mph.
