Posts: 7 hello...i have been talking to Rob about his TII...going to check it out this weekend. if all goes well, i will have an RX-7 soon, my first rotary. Definitely interested in coming to some meets then...I am probably going to Mazdapalooza too. I had a Mazdaspeed Protege until recently...

but back on topic....a big group of central florida protege guys are rolling from Cocoa beach, then to the best buy in Waterford Lakes to pick up the central florida group - then on from there. I don't know if anyone would be interested in joining with them or going around the same time...should be a decent group of cars there, and i would bet an rx-7 or two as well....

i will PM the protege's rollout organizer...they are leaving Waterford by 7:30...will be passing by I-drive around 8 anyway....will definitely let them know

Hey guys, I'm leading the caravan from Cocoa. The plan is to arrive in Orlando to pick up those people and be back on the road by 7:30. That should put us near I-4 right around 8AM. If you're interested, I would be happy to stop so we can all ride out together.

We only have to make one other brief stop once we get near tampa to grab a few more people.

 

so are we still meeting at mcdonalds at idrive at 8? Than the protege group will meet us their as well? We need to have a definite answer!

 

For the Protege Caravan, the itinerary looks like this:

Arrive Cocoa at 6:00, Have breakfast at McD's
Leave Cocoa at 6:15
Arrive Orlando at 7:10 at the Waterford Lakes shopping center, in front of Best Buy
Leave Orlando at 7:30
Arrive at Tampa at: 8:30 at the Best Buy on Dale Mabry Blvd
Leave Best Buy in Tampa at 8:45
Arrive at the Meet at 9:15, with plenty of cars in the group.

Now, if we leave Waterford Lakes at the scheduled time, we should be right near the I-4/I-drive interchange right before or around 8am. So if you guys want to meet there, I will make it an official stop for the caravan, no problem at all.

And if you live on the UCF side of town, you are welcome to meet us at Waterford Lakes and ride over from there.


Also, keep in mind that this caravan is NOT a race. My goal is to get as many cars there at the same time as possible. Now I'm sure we can have a little fun on the way over, but we need to keep it in check so no one gets left behind.

 

im not familiar with the area im just visint a friend. How far away is waterford lakes from ucf?

 

Waterford lakes is literally minutes from UCF...just head south on Alafaya, go past the intersection at Colonial (highway 50) and Waterford is a little bit down on the left, can't miss it, huge shopping center.

 

That is correct. Just south of Colonial and just north of 408 on Alafaya. 'Bout a 5 minute drive from the main UCF campus.

 

thanx card and protege group and flspeed101, we roll like that as a group and stay together and if someone stops we all stop. our brother club from miami is heading out there and we should be well represented at palooza. I was at fmc meet at beach in january in brevard if any of you were there. we should have someone in each others club cell #'s so we know what the PACK is doing front and back. I have 2 two-way radio's and plan on using for our club, miami club uses them alot and they help out spotting popo along the way to warn the PACK. I know one major trap entering tampa right at start of bridges, they are ALWAYS there. everyone knows when i went to clearwater meet, 5 minutes from my house I got the most expensive ticket at show, i was trying to buy radar detector but still haven't. I do have the dvd for traffic school that i am suppose to watch for 6hrs overdue for a couple of months. i ended up buying, i can rent to people who have to go to school to keep points off lmk. other than that plan on bringing your own supplies for survival suntan lotion, water, etc. they are suppose to have some food, drinks but we know how that goes sometimes. Tony I will be going solo, so you don't have to ask Demaris to ride with Terry. Kandela, room available.

 

Think about hooking up with g-ville caravan in tampa who are meeting tampa caravan. I will have video in hand to record the trip from east to west

Yep, I was at the Melbourne Beach meet in January. I actually was in charge of setting that one up, renting the pavilion, and so forth. But now that I no longer have a Mazda, I've taken a slightly more back seat role.

Anyway, yeah I have a few two way radios that I will be bringing also, so when we meet up at McDonalds we can all get on the same channel and help each other out.

And yes, defenitely remember to bring suntan lotion, plenty of water, and maybe even a change of clothes if you are planning to go out and do soemthing in the city afterwards.

whats your projected time to get in to tampa? and is the best buy the official break/meet area to meet up with then local mazdas?

 

Now that we are officially adding the I-Drive stop, I suspect we will be arrive at the Best Buy on Dale Bambry Blvd in Tampa around 9:15AM or so, which is where we will be meeting with the locals there who still want to ride out in the caravan. That will probably put us arriving at Ft DeSoto at around 9:45-10:00AM.
