Carlos Lopez sold me a rear end off of an automatic and tried to tell me that it came off of a manual. He charged me $80 for overnight shipping but it took three weeks for me to get it. Then He ignored my phone calls for a month until I finally called my credit card company to cancel. When my credit card company tried to resolve the matter, they couldn't get in touch w/ him either. I finally got my money back from the credit card company but I'll be damned! if I ever do business w/ Lopez Racing again! Pettit is over priced but their service was impeccable and they treated me w/ respect!

I am not going to name names on this Board here, but let's just say that you are wrong. I know all those shops very well. Let's just say that they ALL go to Chris for answers.

I am at his shop all the time, I see them coming in asking for help. Big nationional professional Race teams ask Cris for advice. Chris is so nice, he even helps some of his competition.

Brendan and Cris are friends, and Brendan is very talented, but he does not have the fastest 4 banger in ther world, by far.

Look up Crispeed on this forum, and see his posts and how everyone respects his opinions. Jut FYI.

nope that fastest 4 banger is lingenfelter :P in his summit ecotec cavalier 6.9 in the 1/4
followed by Sakura 7.4
then Rosado Racing! who is consistantly in the 8.0's and has run 7.8's
PSI is not consistant at ALL he made only one! seven second pass at moroso and that was a 7.80 which you have mentioned which I saw with my own eyes

PSI car Hasnt changed since I saw it back in 99 at the battle of the imports in orlando
except the paint and stickers are faded now

funny "Tropical Heat" SR5 Toyota use to claim to be the fastest 4 cyl on earth
too back in the late-mid 90's

Things have changed folks
get out of the florida exclusive scene
and you will find out who is running what in the World....

You are correct Kabooski.
But in defense of Brendan, (who I consider a friend) - the paint and stickers don't mean ****. He is not sponsered, and he pays his own way. PSI Racing is his shop, and nobody really helps him on his corolla.

The reason he hasn't spent any money on the looks dept is that he switched to an experimental alcohol setup on his car. This was a money pit which sucked all the money out of the project. It just didn't work out, and he has since switched back to gasoline.

His times have been steadlily improving since, and will get better. The Car and Chassis is extremely well designed, and can take much more HP in the near future.

All I know is that when it comes time for me to drop in a new ECU, I'm probably going to go to Chris and hope he has the time for my bussiness. He's the best at tunning rotary engines from what I've seen and heard, and he is a really nice guy on top of it. I was getting ready to do a TII conversion on my GTU, and he gave me a few simple words of advice. He Instantly saved me close to $400 that I can now put into my new engine, and I'm not even one of his customers.

IN ALL TRUTHFULLNESS I WOULD GO TO ALEX LOPEZ RACING RATHER THAN CARLOS. Carlos ive havent done business with him but i heard that his prices are not cheap. dragon motorsports prices are decent but they take a week to do something that takes 2 days. and they require money before the deal is done!

alex is doing a 4 rotor as we speak with twin turbos. IMO go with alexv 3052551352

and both lopez are far away from eachother. ALex is near homestead on sw 200th st while carlos is beside tamiami airport on sw 130st

Since this thread was revived from the dead - I want to retract my previous negative comments of Carlos Lopez from CLR.

My comments were immature, stupid, and without any merit. I have since met Carlos on a few occasions, and he has proven to me that he is different that what I remember him. - and a genuinely nice guy.

I am not sure if he has changed, or I did - but surely sure some of the difference came with age, but then so does wisdom. Carlos - If you're listening out there. I am sorry for being a stupid ***** in the beginning of this thread years ago. Please continue to be a positive influence out there in the Rotary World.

Sincerely,

Alex R

If there is one thing I havelearned about most rotary mechanics in my time, it is that most of them are 50/50. 50% of their customers swear he is a golden god, the other 50% want to rape his children and burn down his home.

There are exceptions, but I am not even going to get into all of that.

No, That's how classy he is. He has never mentioned it to me, or anybody else that
I know of.

Re-reading this thread, I can't beleive I ever wrote that. It was pretty stupid of me, and
it was a repeat of what someone other stupid kid told me years ago, without making my own substantiated opinion of Carlos. I should have known better, because Carlos treated me pretty well when I was a teenager, with my "Dellorto" carbs over 10 years ago.

Again, I am sorry for being an idiot Carlos.

Alex R

Carlos I have met personally and whenever I have needed something for my engine or a word of advice he has been courteous towards me. In fact, he has even gone out of his way to make sure that the decission I was about to make would be worth it.

He is a true master of his craft.. In the realm of R & D or Research and Development. He has studied what has taken years of research as to making the motors and rotors do more than what they have been able to do. He has several projects which take him away from Miami and is always traveling. Several companies and major racing corporations hire him to design motors that will withstand rigorous beatings and long hours at high RPM in races. He builds strong motors. He does less streetwork because the professional circuit occupies most of his time. Two weeks here in Miami and two weeks out of town is what at time is a normal schedule for him. He has put his time in and is paying off.

If he builds your motor... consider it a very well built motor.. the guy knows what he is doing. It goes back to the old way simply put: "You get what you pay for.."

If you are shopping price take a moment to think about the quality... that is really what you pay for.

You can contact him at CLR Motorsports of Miami at 305-235-3696

His shop is near Tamiami Airport.. In the warehouse district near the south end of the airport just two blocks west of the new Lexus & Toyota of Kendall.

I have just purchased an engine off ebay that one of the lopezs built dynoing 618. I wish I knew witch one it was so they can set up the engine in my car. A guy in New mexico bought the red FD from someone in FL. then had the car shipped to New Mexico and Immediately decided to do a LS-1 conversion. He sold me the entire setup. Engine, Trans., very large Inner cooler, Radiator, 2 MSD 6AL ignitions, Fuel pressure reg., haltech fuel comp., ect... If anyone knew of this car or knows witch one built this motor please PM or email me at unlockjoe@bellsouth.net
Thanks again, Joe
