Hopefully my buddy hasn't destroyed my baby while I've been gone. It's probably still sitting at the barracks in FC 481. So what have I been missing since August?
Is yours black with bronze rims?

Joel, give me a call about your car. I would get 200, 400, and 600 grit sandpaper and a tub of filler/bondo

Haha, yeah that was me. I had my engine rebuilt by Bryan at Rotorsports up in Kanapolis. After that, it seemed to have trouble in the higher RPM range, it would stutter and the whole car would shake. Not to mention the cloud of exhaust that would issue forth from my exhaust pipe. I deployed before I got the chance to figure the problem out. Figures, right? I plan on taking it to Peter Farell when I get back. Have him rip the block apart and make sure everything is in good order, then trouble shoot from there and see what we come up with. Hopefully the motor rebuild wasn't the problem, I would be very upset if I spent almost $8K on a motor that blew up within 15K miles. I didn't drive it hard or anything either, I was very nice to iit during the break in period. I've been reading up on water injection lately, think that might be a good route to go once she's up and running. I think the PFC I bought was shitty, I got a used one from Rotorsports, and after about 2 weeks it wouldn't start, so I had to switch back to the stock ECU. I've been driving very conservatively after that, trying not to break 4K RPMs, since I've got a mild street port and full exhaust/air intake, I don't want a flaming seal to break some soccer moms windshield. Any ideas?

Sounds like a fuel problem to me, improper tuning in the higher RPM, you said smoke and bogging so im guessing its dumping too much fuel when it gets up there. If your not having a hard time starting the car in the mornings or serious misfiring i wouldnt be too worried about something being wrong with the engine. And wow...8k is crazy for a motor rebuild even with some extras including turbo and ecu;i would definetly be calling them back.

Haha, Let me clarify a couple things about the 8K engine. It is a 2mm street port with coated upper and lower manifolds, powerFC ecu, and the motor was completely rebuilt, new everything pretty much. It was a little more pricey than I thought, but it wasn't too crazy compared to other places I asked around at. Plus the 5 hour drive is preferable to the 9 hour next nearest place in DC. Thanks about the upper RPM tuning suggestion, I'll have to look into it when I get home. Yeah, the car starts fine and never misfires. Just the normal cold day smoke on start-up, but that goes away quickly. Other than that, I think the worst I can say about it is that there are some paint chips and the stereo **** the bed on me.

there is one 85 here in fayetteville. It has a fresh rebulid, Bridged and holley intake manifold and carb, racing beat exhaust. the body and interiors are pretty straight and the guy wants 3800 for it.

Aren't you deployed?

I might let my FB go. I don't have the time or the motivation to finish it.
