Thumbs up Blue Ridge Rotary Run 2012 "B3R"

Hello All!

Been a while since I've posted the forum, but I wanted everyone to know you're invited to the 2012 B3R. This event is free, for the most part. Of course you'll have your own expenses such as gas, oil, and food (potential small fee for the campground).

We tend to start near Asheville, NC and drive down near Cherokee and camp for the night, then drive back. There'll be a few stops along the way for photo opportunities of the scenery or the cars. At the camp ground there's a huge fire, cook-out, and the like. Just a great time to get with fellow rotary and Mazda enthusiasts and enjoy a fun drive.

Event dates are June 16 & 17th.

Please feel free to pass this along to your friends. More details will follow.

Hope to see you there!!!!

That sure would bring back some memories. The last time I took my Rx7 up to the Blue Ridge Parkway was before my first daughter was born, right after I graduated nuclear field "A" school. We've been talking about heading up to D.C. this summer, and that would be... sort of... along the way. I've got a pic of my (at the time pregnant) wife and me sitting against the side of my 7 somewhere along the BR pkwy...

So we are 90% going now, we just need to know what the timeline looks like. What time are we planning on meeting, and where? We need to know this so we can reserve hotels and plan accordingly.

Yes, but as Trey keeps telling me, you can get a hotel in Cherokee (wife hates camping!) LOL. You should check out Harrah's casino maybe, but there are several places nearby.

I just did the drive up to DC from Asheville and it was very nice. You could head up north to I-81 and get I-66 east to DC which is a nice drive. Just a bear navigating that end stretch of 66 into DC downtown...

Yeah, we decided to not do DC this year. If we were going to do that, I'd have to take the family car with the kids. If I'm going to swing by with the Rx7, we'd have to take both the Rx7 and CX-7. Not doing that. So instead, we're going to spend a week in the mountains, just me and the wife. And I'm not going to camp the whole time That's why I asked when/where, so we can find a hotel close enough to where we could get up the morning of and drive to wherever the meet is going to be, then drive to Cherokee from there!

Not sure how the wife will feel about camping, but I'd definitely be down

So what was the turnout like? Our FD is currently in the shop, and we didn't know about the event, but we may be interested for next year. At least as long as there's more than about 3 other drivers anyways.
