It really helps if you post this a couple of weeks in advance.

 

ummm.. David .. The Varsity is the regular meeting .. the 1st Thursdays of the month, so everyone knows well in advance.

Right now, those who want to meet in between are just communicating and agreeing on a place, and posting it for others to show up. If you have a place and a night, and at least one or two other people, post it and invite others to show up. You know how this work David. And, the 3 German girls were a bonus for the guys, Daniel met them just before it was time to meet.

Um, you don't get it. This was a spontaneous event. As in, we planned it exactly when I started the thread. As in, it was an informal get-together for whoever could show up. We're considering making it a regular thing, once a month in Brookhaven, so when that happens we'll post on it. Cool?

Not everyone looks at the forum constantly. If you want to have a decent turnout, it helps to have a little bit of a notice. If I was to post, "hey everyone, come over to my house at 7 tonight", do you really think that more than 2-3 are going to show up? Most people will not have even read the post yet. The point is this, if you want to plan an event of any sort, you ought to give people a reasonable notice. It's called etiquette.

When you give a very short notice (notice that I said very short, not just short), you end up with a very small turnout. Then you end up with people bitching that "the scene is dead, no one comes out, etc". If the event is just for a few select people, you are better off calling them, or PMing them. BTW - I am not bashing on you. Please don't take it that way. I am just pointing out issues that I've seen before in the car scene.

Now the regular once-a-month thing would be MUCH better (very good suggestion). Holly and I used to go to the RX7 get-togethers and we usually had a decent turnout. Holly, do you think we should start the old meetings back up? Are you down for some Mexican food? :-) Time to call up the old school guys?

 

this was posted a day before. plus it was a pretty good turnout. there where hot chicks there so i poop on you.

 

I understand what you are saying David, but this was a last minute get together. Just as DigitalSynthesis said, it is as simple as that. For those that do read the forum regularly, I and others do encourage posting the last minute get togethers.

My point earlier was to say that we have one regular monthly meeting going now, at the Varsity downtown, on the 1st Thursday of the month. So those that don't read the forum often can plan ahead and try to meet us, if they want to mass meet other rotorheads. I'm sure there are others, who don't go to the big meets, because they like to meet a smaller group, instead of being overwhelmed by a big group, none of which they know.

The meet at Mellow Mushroom was good, as in one new rotorhead joined us and he lives right by the downtown Varsity. I don't know why he hasn't joined us before, you will have to ask him. And so now he may join us on the Thursday night. Plus, 5 of us regular rotorheads managed to meet, so it was a good turn out for last minute. Sorry you didn't have enough notice to come out and meet us.

And I'm not picking on you David, but the last few events, (that were planned well in advance), and you said you were coming out... I have not seen you. I understand your point of posting in advance about meets, but this was not one of those things.

Come out this Thursday night to the Varsity and we will have a face off. :-D Anyway.. come on out, haven't seen you in a while.
