ATL: Body Shops
Guys,
I lost my Job on Friday, as well as the ability to finish my RX-2 there at the shop. I'm not worried about finding a new job, but finishing the car myself is now inpossible. I'm looking for a body shop I can trust to finish the bodywork and paint the car, as a shell, which I can then pick up, bring home, and put drivetrain, interior, and electrical back in her. Anyone have a 'full-service' shop they'd reccomend? I have a few stamped holes that need to be fiberglassed or welded to fill the rear (used to hold a plastic panel in, which I'm omitting). Everything else is finishing my bodywork and paint. Anybody?.....

I'm taking mine to Kong's Body shop for some damage repair from when somebody hit me, but he's not cheap. His work seems very good, though. He's got an FD he's customizing into his personal show car, and a TII waiting for a restoration on his lot, and he seems to know RX-7's pretty well. www.kongsbodyshop.com

I got my car fixed up and painted at Xtreme Body Shop. They did an excellent job. I've got many compliments on my car. Some ppl even asked if my car was brand new ;p. There was some overspray over some gaskets, but no real big issures. It was about a week and a half turn around. I don't have any before pics, but i had several large dents and door dings. Here's my car now.

I was thinking about Kong's body shop but I got a lower price ;].
here's Xtreme's website. www.xtremeatl.com

In cherokee county, connors frame & body, 770-751-1292... seemed to do good work on my moms maxima and there was a sweet mr2 turbo there that was looking nice, job was so good i didnt know whether they were just polishing it or fixing something... he told me the front past the bumber had been taken out.
I believe somebody who races rx-7s, anatilla (russian) or somebody takes their cars there.

Well, most raced cars get quick resprays so they can get the vinyl back on. I'm not looking for a coucours paint job, but I definitely want to spend the time and money to do it right. David, any chance I can go by Kong's when you might be there to look over your car? Can you pm me with some details on what you're having done and roughly what it's costing you?

Each car is different. Just see what Sung quotes you. He will do it right.
I can be there anytime. I work right up the street and am over there a good bit.

I'm just wondering what Sung's gonna charge to do the whole car, inside and out. I've emailed him pics so we could talk about what I want to have done, but he's just been too busy. I'm stripping the exhaust, gas tank, hydraulics, and replacing the diff tomorrow - should have it trailer-worthy by next weekend, so I'd like to get a list of 3 shops or so that I can take it to when I've got it trailered up. I'm definitely going by Hong's, but I need 2 more good shops I can check out. Anybody else?

Are you going to have all of the body work already done? If so, then there really is no reason to go anywhere else. Paint is nothing more than chemicals. And with chemicals, you get what you pay for. Some shops use reject paint to get their prices cheaper. You don't want that.
