Shoot, I dont need another car. I am just trying to figure out how "not posting" caused him to lose his motor. Seems to be a rash of this going around lately.

well no one helped figure out what was wrong w/ my 82, (by replying to a simple post) and frequent starting of the car to keep it running led to a blown motor, which i found out was cause of no oil being injected to oil the seals made me real happy to know it was something so simple that sent her to the grave.

i would post in words if i knew how to say whats its doing, umm the idle surges 200-300 rpm when idle, the check engine light goes off when gas is pressed, back on when u release gas pedal, ecu was bad at first, replaced w/ a parts ecu, could that one be bad too, throwing like 4 different codes at me at aonce, one for the crank angle sensor, 2 for some kind of air by pass valve, and one for throttle sensor.

I think you may be blessed by one fact: the check engine light is on. That is telling you that there is a code for the malfunction stored in your ECU. DO a search for how to pull the malfunction code. It is very easy. My guess, listening to the video, is that there is something in the pollution control system that is out of whack. Based on 24 years of RX-7 ownership, I don't think it's major, but I am no mechanic.

Definately sounds like tps is out of adjustment, or is bad. As far as the check engine light going out when you accelerate it looked to me like it turns off when voltage rises, also when you rapidly accelerate the typical tps symptom cannot be heard or identified. If you hold the pedal above idle (say like 2k) you can hear the lumpy idle which is typically tps. My bros was doing the same thing (87 SE) and we hooked up a home made tps tool (2 12v lamps wired to 3 spade connector and then hooked up to the tps connector, turn tps adjustment until only one of the lights is on (you can also hear the idle getting better/stable as you get it set to where is needs to be).

buy a NEW TPS, it may cost a **** ton of money, but if you have a new one in, you know that you don't have a part that was bad from the get-go. my ranger used to do stuff like that, no check engine light, but goofy idle, sounded funny. when was you last FULL tuneup? if you have the tools and the patience, i'd suggest removing all the emissions equipment, just run an open header at idle to see if your air pump is FUBAR, if you cat is clogged, or if you have anything else that is ******* with your car. if none of the emissions equipment is at fault, just leave it off, because who needs emissions? when was the last time you changed your fuel filter? have you had a compression check lately (i don't know if this will help, just throwing out questions that may help in diagnosing the problem).

i think i may get a new one, if this adjustment tomorrow doesnt work out. ive dne the plugs and wires, this is my send rx but ive only had her 2 weeks, havent driven her out of the neighborhood. dont wanna register and insure w/ out getting bugs taken care of. i need to change the oil and wire poen the 6 ports, taken care of vac leaks as far as i can tell, need to do timing, but ill do that before adjusting the TPS. but, after i do both of those ill get back on what is going on....one worry, when i put it in gear, not just pushing the clutch, but actually having the clutch in and then putting it in gear, the idle drops and starts surging like u hear...any clue as to that?!

well reese came over this afternoon, we tinkered with the tps and the timing. not to mention my wires were crossed ....<--dumbass.... and the timing was a lil off i think. but the TPS was way off. so now, thanks to Reese, the car semms to be running a lil bit smoother. he and i both think the old gas just needs to run out, and i need to cycle some injector cleaner through. and btw.... i really musta been wasted last night. also he disconnected the BAC valve and i think it helped a lil as well. but now that the car is out of gas, ill have to get some good cleaner and about 3-4 gallos of gas. hopefully she'll be running and legal by this weekend!
