Not going to get into a big discussion here because it's been done many times before, but you don't think that's a logical comparision? Sanctioned racing bodies make that comparision. Right or wrong, it's an accepted comparison.

Did you guys see how bad the Porsche leans on turns? My dad has a 924, and they don't get 34 or 35 MPG. he gets more like 21, and his car is '80. I would rather have an RX-7, the parts are easier to find. and less money, but not only that but i lost to a freakin '93 Ford Taurus in it in my Dads Porsche that was the last straw.

That was the UK version of the rx-7 they are set up a little bit differently than USDM or eve JDM 7's for that matter.

BTW that is a SPORT model body molding here in the USA. That aero package is the best design from mazda for s4 .29 drag co.

No, watch it again. Its a 13b there.. not a magical UK only 11.5b.. Even if UK had a slightly different setup it was still a 13b. If he was making the double displacement comparison he would have said 2.6l. He was saying that despite its compact size the 13b's 148HP was equivalent to a 2.3l piston engine power wise. S4 NAs were 146-8HP. The FAQ stickies in the 2nd gen section actually say s4 NA had 146 so maybe the UK version had 2 more HP. Or mazda could never get a consistant HP number on the 13b engine and at that time 1986ish they told Top Gear it had 148hp.

Cool videos though, anyone know the date on this review?

I think the date of that particular review was '85. Mazda introduced the FC in Japan in '85 and I think that's the early S4 j-spec version he has. They added the ignition system we're used to in 86 when we got them.

At least I think that's how it goes. It's been awhile since I read Yamaguchi's Rx-7 book, but I've seena picture of an FC with that same ignition setup in there somewhere.
