quick winter fun with the FD

Well I had to take advantage of the empty lot down the street from my house. I also wanted to practice my driving but only ended up "playing" for like 2 minutes. I got a feeling like someone was going to call the cops because it was LOUD so me and my buddy left the lot.

We ended up driving around the block like twice when I wanted to go back. So as we are approaching the lot and just about to turn in I notice a COP just chillin right where we just were messing around. I was just about to turn in but kept straight when I saw him. He had to of been suspicious seeing this little black sports car driving around in the snow after he probably just got a call from the locals.

So I get down the block to the light and just as I turn I notice him pull out of the lot and after me (he tried waiting so I wouldn't notice but I was completely focused on him). He ended up trailing me a good distance behind for like 15 minutes! I'm sure he was waiting for me to do something "reckless". Finally he got impatient and crept up and next to me as if to say "I own your ***" and just paced me all the while i was kinda freaking out but as soon as he got ahead by like car length I just turned off a side street and made my way back home.

It was funny, because as soon as I turned I saw him hit the brakes like he was thinking of coming back after me but I had the head start and was close to home so I didn't see him again.

So thats my little run -in, here's a short vid. I want to go back during the day and get some better footage because it was FUN as hell. I also wanted to like pull over and just ask the cop if he knew anyplace that I could practice defensive driving in the snow...ha.

because I like to enjoy my car that I have spent so much money and time on. The car has been in storage the last 2 months and I wanted to start her up and have a little fun. It will be in storage for the next 3 months so I have no problem doing what I did.

There was no salt in the lot and the car was washed the next morning....

this isn't exactly a collectors FD, it has been through like 4 owners and has 130K miles on it.

I agree, i wouldnt do that with the FD. Anything can happen with some innocent playing around in snow. You can hit a curb, maybe oversteer by mistake and hit a pole. Then you'll regret ever taking out the car that day.

Im not saying dont have fun, do what you want to have fun, i just dont recommend that.

Especially in our cars since they are soo rare.

My car doesnt see snow, rain or any form of precipitation.

Looks like fun. I don't think I would have done that in my FD either but I don't blame you. I did the same thing in two cars that are rarer than FDs this past storm.

Sure it might be fun, but i'd never do that in an FD in the snow.

Really never seen a VW R32; those things are AWESOME. Personally preferred the older body style, but they sound awesome from the factory.

so ppl wouldn't do it because what.....the underbody would get wet?

I agree, a nice condition RX-7 has no place in the snow but my FD has oil like a mother underneath it from the hell it's been through with previous owners and it will never be in collectors edition unless MAJOR restoration is done.

The car sits in a heated garage so ALL the snow melted off in like 30 mins and I backed in out to wash it the next morning. There was no salt, if there was, this would of never happened. The lot was literally a block down my street so it's not like I drove miles and miles to get to it. I like to enjoy my car because I know I probably won't own it in another couple years.

^^^ Why not?

Idk, i figure if you have the money, keep the FD. Its really a good car. Its rare, its fun to drive. A good handful of people who sell usually buy another one later on.

Thats another reason why i dont drive the FD much. Because on the days when it sits, just builds urge for me to go drive it. Then when i finally do, its like i just got the car and im happy.

I get bored easily, thats why lol
