I'm curious whether you have your battery in the stock location or have moved it to a storage bin. Also, haw far back is the LS1 mounted in your car relative to the REW setup? Had the firewall been modified at all?
Any R1 owner who is serious about performance will at minimum delete AC, PS, and get a lightweight exhaust. A single turbo conversion will also shave considerable weight. I would like to see the corner weight of a bareblock 13B-REW FD vs a bareblock LS1 FD.
That being said, the LS1 swap does have incredible performance potential and I'm not throwing it down one bit. I happen to love the videos of your car.
Just wanted to give an unbiased opinion.

the red car is sandro's and he is SCCA racer so must keep it all stock. that was the only rx7 that took me up on invitation to autocross last year at giants stadium my battery is behind pass seat in bin. stock unmodified firewall. all mods on my site.
Even stock rx7's handle great and i just posted my info to show that other guy that a properly set up ls1 conversion won't mess that up
but my car is in the process of gaining weight. i already added an oil cooler. i am waiting for raceshop's chromoly 6 pt rollbar, and i'm re-installing ABS shortly.

i actually got to take a passenger seat run around the cone drift track at Thunder Hill on Dec 10 or 11,i cant remember, but it handels awsome. Just as good as any other FD ive been in. Rode in an LS1 FC and thought the same thing. I was at one time a LS1 RX-7 hater but all that changed real quick. For any one els out there on that day we were driving the getto *** black Turbo2.

Your LS1 FD looks EXTREMELY well done. Everything looks as if it belongs in the car. Someone who did not know that the RX-7 came with a rotary from the factory wouldn't even know that it was an engine swap. These are the V8 swaps that I greatly respect. Someday (after graduate school) I hope to own two FDs, a stock engined one and an LS1 swap. Or a rotary FD and a C6 Z06.
I would NOT, however, put an old iron-block carbed V8 into an Rx7, ESPECIALLY an FD. Its so much weight and I'm a technology lover, plus I like revs.

Thank you for the compliments. My friend andrew and i build the car in 2 months, in my garage, and we were drunk half the time.
Turned out pretty good.

sounds like american muscle to me. I'm still partial to teh "make you go deaf" high pitch yell a well built rotary makes...and all it's pops, and flames shooting out and what not. But that's just me
