the 5.0 didnt win by much. the fd needs to learn how to stop making excuses for why he lost. it didnt even sound like the FD had anything on it. of course you are going to lose against most V8s if your car is stock. he just needs to learn to race.

Why leave your FD completely stock, anyway? I have never understood that. My old man is making 290 rwhp with just a few mods, and the car is reliable as hell and pulls on C5s, let along nasty old mustangs.

Holy crap this is an old *** video. I still contend that from the angle you can't tell ****. With the stang getting the jump...looked pretty even to me. But what do I know. Especially in that last vid. He BARELY inched ahead then started to slowly drop back. So damn dark who the hell knows. The vid editor seems a little over zealous.

There's a reason they call them 5.Slow because they are god awfully slow, I raced my friend in his 86 FI Mustang with cat back and a new clutch and I whooped in him in my FB.

I wasnt aware you could toss flames through a stock 5.0 with just a catback. Its easy to hide nitrous I had a hidden system in my f150 noone could find. Unless you took apart the airbox and took off my master cylinder and powersteering resevoir

The only thing worse than losing to a Mustang, has got to be showing the world u suk as a racer, driver, and u cant accept defeat. And yea theres no way in hell taht mustang is stock. A stock 5.0 would barely keep up if i shift at 6k rpm. Ive seen a million non turbo 6ports whoop mustangs. Moral of the story is, Mustangs suck....losing to mustangs in any turbo charged rotary and denying it sucks worse.

LOL You're right. I "suk" as a racer (even though I've probably done more SCCA regionals and nationals than the numerical value of your age) and driver. I suck so bad as a driver that I took a stock CYM R1 on the original tires from 1993, complete with flatspots and dryrot cracks in the sidewalls on them (45kmi) and ran a 8.58 in the 1/8th mi, which if you AREN'T versed well enough in terms of drag racing roughly equates around a 13.0-13.1 ET. Stock. What great accomplishments have you done with your RX-7 that you can report about on this forum?

Here's some quotes for you from the 3rd gen RX-7 timeslips and dyno forum, taken from this thread:

actually our local track (30 minutes away, closest 1/4 mile is 2 hours) is 1/8th mile so we always just run the 1/8th.

my 91 TII ran an 8.48et @ 84 mph on the stock turbo @ 12psi with full exhaust/intake/safc/fmic so i'm pretty much maxing out the stock turbo. that run was with a 1.999(lol) 60ft. and i'm quite a bit faster than a bone stock FD (or so i thought, you may have proved me wrong) most FD's usually run high 8's running sequential and totally stock, right? great times man.
Well, you get the idea...

or people need to just buy some real lives and not take street racing so seriously.

****, if i lost a race i should have won mathematically, i'd wonder what was up too. it's not like roll on racing is some magical test of skill, it's all about power-to-weight. so if i lost to a car that the owner swore had a lower power to weight ratio than mine, i'd be a little curious. i guess the majority of internet racers don't know how to do simple math though, so they can't follow that logic.

then again, because i can't stand being around overzealous inbred idiots, i don't tend to do much hanging out with street racers.

The way I look at it, faster is faster. Of course the mustang wasn't stock, else you would have walked him, so that was a lame *** excuse, no matter how many SCCA regionals or Nationals you compete in. Faster is faster and you lost because you weren't faster. I don't care if you catch up with the other guy and he tells you he has a pair of hampsters on steroids under the hood. So what if its not true? Faster is faster and the bottom line is that he got from point A to point B FASTER than you. If you were faster, it wouldn't matter what he had under his hood because he would be "back there" with it. I'm not knocking your car or your skills as a driver. I'm saying the bottom line is that the Mustang was faster and you made up a bunch of bullshit as to why you lost when what you should have did was cowboy up and gave dude his props for winning.

That's what you get for keeping your car "stock". You are regulated to racing car's that run the 13 second range. You want to keep bragging how fast you car is "stock"...who cares. Spend some real money, make the car quicker and go shut the mustang down.

This just reminds me of a friend I knew growing up that could never race any faster cars, but would brag about how quick his car was without any mods. Basically, he just didn't want to spend any money on it.

Put money in your motor, go back and avenge this disgraceful video.

And quit bragging about your 13 second car.

Did the FD have any mods on it when the video was made? Also, how the hell can anyone complain about the driver's skill. I didn't hear any gears grinding. No extended shift time, just an asinine comment. if he was racing from a stop and the stang honks the horn and he waits, spins tires forever, misses a gear, THEN comment on his driving skills and even then loosely.

I doubt the stang had just a cat-back. FD stock and in good shape - 210 to 220 rwhp. Stock stang GT of that year made a manufacture's claim of 225 or was it 220? Throw on the cat-back and your making at best 240 from the engine. If they were racing for money, and I know the addage of run what ya brung, and the stang owner is claiming just an exhaust and I lost, I'd be suspicious too. He might have just had a cat-back now that I thought it through with this data...IF was indeed stock the stang might have just had a cat-back. see the next statement to see what I mean.
And doing a 45 roll to what ever speed they stopped at, both car's E.T. from the track are useless. Need the trap speed to see which one was accelerating faster at the top end since that was this type of race. The FD at 13.2 means zilch if it still has a stock trap speed on 99 to 101 since the stang gt from that year was also 99 I believe.

Tim

Silly Canadian. I'm not bragging about my 13 second car but off the top of your head can you name 2 other stock FDs that are knocking on a 12 second timeslip with a trap of 106-107mph? I don't think so. So excuse me that I'm a little happy that my FD runs good, my driving is better and I'm running with or beating cars that I probably don't even have any business running. Cars like this all motor Maxima that I raced that trapped 107mph at Rockingham raceway here in N.C. that I slowly pulled on and put almost 2 cars on from a 45 roll:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=293277
And how about a 290+RWHP LT-1 6 speed:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=378776
Some turbo hondas?
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=305958
A all motor 13.6 second Honda from a roll:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=367051
And not to mention I raced a friend's LT-1 Camaro with a cam and full bolt-ons. His car ran low 13s at 108mph at Rockingham raceway and from *again* a 45 roll my FD was quite literally door to door to 145mph.

Just clarify, I didn't call out the Mustang in that video. He called me out after numerous personal insults and unprovoked name-calling so I was really looking for a win and after not receiving it I guess I was a little upset but if it's any consolation the Mustang in that video trapped *SURPRISE*! 107MPH at the local track on a 100 shot of the spray
Here's his dyno sheet:

So I run door to door with 107mph cars like the Maxima and my buddies Camaro, then race the Mustang in the video who claims he's stock (LOL!) who has run a confirmed 13.7@107mph on the spray.....hmm........conspiracy? The owner of the Mustang was planning on spraying on me the whole time. I even have a PM from him saying so
Besides that. After the first race, I repeatedly asked him to put his bottle back in (he removed it before the race, for everyone to see but it wasn't his bottle. It was actually his friend's bottle who took the bottle from the mustang owner, popped the hatch of his Saturn where he put the bottle in it's brace, secured the nitrous line and activated it. He was the chase car in the video). Anyways, the Mustang owner refused time and again to put his "bottle" back in and race me again, mainly because he knew the results would be exactly the same. Then some friends of mine who own Mustangs asked the guy where his nitrous pills were and asked him to remove them and the clown in the video refused to remove them.

So did I whine? Yeah I guess I did. I've raced plenty of people and lost and if you ask any of my close friends, they will tell you I have a good time whether I win or lose. I was just upset at this race's outcome because the guy is the world's biggest douche

Spend some money in your car, make it run quicker to separate yourself from these wonderful people you race against.

well in order to keep up with the fd the mustang had to have had a 3.73 or 4.10 rearend...since i use to own a 5.0 mustang with a 3.73 rearend they can really haul even if there a notchback like that one. ive seen 5.0 with a cold air intake, catback, and ring and pinion run low 13's all day on street tires.

The Mustang in the Video had ~3.07 rear end in it if that tells you anything

I'm not doubting that those mods can have that effect on the Foxbody, but let me ask you this:
Would a stock Mustang be able to run door to door with a stock FD from a 45 roll on the highway, with a 3.07 rear end and only 203RWHP? In the video, I shut down at almost 150MPH. Do you honestly think a stock Foxbody, which is not exactly known for it's svelte aerodynamics, is even going to do almost 150MPH without some major boost in power, most likely not found in the form of a CAI, catback or gear?
