I don't understand why they'd go through the effort of wearing a racing suit, gloves, and shoes and not bother to wear a helmet... I mean, i can see not wearing a helmet, but then they should be driving in tshirts and jeans...

They use a stopwatch and time the space between when the cars leave and return.
If the car in back falls behind the car in front, the car in back loses. If the car in back keeps up or is closer than when they started the car in back wins.
If you don't use a stopwatch, it hard to tell.(like with most racing between similar powered cars.
No passing on the Touge.

I have this in english at home.
Did anyone notice why the MCR seemed so fast on straightaways.
On his(Manabu Orido JGTC,D1, 1997 NASCAR, Formula Nippon Winner.)(I've been to his house.(he has a deck((no one has the space for a deck in Japan. That's like having acres of land in the US))) steering wheel he has something MCR installed called a boost scramble button.
