We ran it the other night when we were tuning the burner and got it a little hotter.

I don't have any way to measure but we figure somewhere in the 75-80lb range. If you don't have someone holding onto the stand it will take off!!!

Do you mind elaborating on the set-up? What starts the initial rotation?

What are you using to spin the compressor? It doesn't look like it is self-sustaining. You might want consider some sort of bleed air cooling as a future project- I can't see it lasting very long with those heat cycles- but then again that is where simplicity helps.

The rotation is started by a leaf blower (APU) then the fuel is simply turned on. After that it is self sustaining and only requires a fuel pump and a oil pump. During the tuning process you adjust the size and position of the holes in the burn tube. We really weren't too concerned on making it live so we tuned for the highest power. After we made the vid we opened up the nozzle about 1/2" and the EGTs dropped substantially with not much loss of thrust, but after that the afterburner didn't function properly.
