There are actually people with the condition that he has. It's not all bullshit. If you've ever taken hallucinogens, you may have experienced similar sensations, as your brain gets all of it's sensory inputs mixed up from all of the stimulation. Closing your eyes and seeing music is a pretty cool experience.
