FD3s RX-7 Build in Maya [3D]
Im not sure if this is in the corect forum, but it has to do with a RX7 and Third Gen, so here i go: Iam in the works of doing a Mazda RX-7 for a racing short that me and a friend are trying to tackle. I just started about 4 days ago, working on it in my spare time.
We are going to try our best to make this as realistic as possible, using 3ds, Maya and Combustion. Im using Maya 8.5 for my stuff. And i know a decent amount of combustion. So please here is the 1st little bit of the car, and i already today created the Rims i will use for the RX7.
Also i have loads of reference Pictures, as i own a 1992 JDM RX-7, but we are not trying to make the car 100% to spec,we are going to put our own little spins on some things. So that said here is the progress so far:
Heres the gallery to the Rims, i have a few different combinations of them, please tell me which one you prefer:

And the WIP Screen cap of the car:

Any responses will be much appreciated!

Its a rough, i know there are flaws in the rear of the body, and the lights. The Kit is going to be much more dynamic, im just kinda blocking it out as of now.
PS: I am a freelance 3D artist, as well as a Full time 3D artist at my job. SO anyone needs anything, or has ideas you think i may be able to Create for you, don't hesitate, and PM me.

Hey guys thanks for the responses, the Tire tread isn't modeled in, there a Bump map. Where i draw the tread in Photoshop, and apply the texture, and the render' takes that information, and fakes the lighting on the surface, making it look as if there was acual tread there.

Not to be rude or anything, but that model looks like crap, its so bumpy, and much to reflective. I only started this model 5 days ago, probably put in about 8 hours of work into it, it will be coming along nice soon.

i think 1MZFE's rendering is amazing. i've done a lot of modeling in maya (i originally went to school for computer animation at ringling college in florida) and personally i think your model looks like crap. the shape of your model (so far) looks nothing like an FD nor does it show any potential to look like one. yes, you did a decent rim/tire, but that is extremely easy to model (its not an organic shape - like a car body). if that's all you've accomplished in 8 hours, i suggest you spend less time critiquing others work and more time working on your own.
if you're gonna want positive feedback from people, it's not a good idea to rip on those who came before you.

haha, dude ive spent 8 hours on the model so far, that includes, doing test renders, and texturing the rim/tire. and rendering the rim/tire out. I work for hollywood on films for 3D. So maybe before you start criting my work, get your facts correct.

Ok guys i noticed that the blueprints i was modeling off of were scrunched, so it made the car look more squat. I decided to remodel the entire model, and go for a more stock feel. I was rushed before with the model, due to a deadline we gave ourselves, but we decided to not give a deadline at all, and just do a super job! So here is the bumper so far: (check Attachments)

haha, the model didn't look bad, i was bashing the materials, and how it looks like it was a mirror to the environment, much to reflective. The model itself looks decent for sure.
