FD3S rally onboard
Been posted over on the Aussie forum, but definitely deserves a wider audience. First part (~20km?) of the stage plays to the Mazda straight line abilities.....and allows it to bridge the 30sec deficit in starting time to the preceding car, that section not shown.
Unusually, the passed car instead of disappearing into the background sticks with the Rx7 through the twisties giving a unique perspective....in the normal rally context at least.

Think the guy driving the Skelta, which should be faster than the Rx7....ex English Le Mans driver Nick Faure, was handicapped by having a colonial calling the notes (or a dodgy intercom!). I keep looking for "cows" even though I understand what passes for a language down here, but yeah, can get a bit busy for the nav, instruction wise.
The black thing passed mid way was a Gallardo having a bit of mechanical difficulty...at least not bursting into flames as in previous events!

"1" describes a corner almost doubling back on itself...basically a hairpin. At the other extreme a "10" is a slight kink, that you should be able to take flat....unless it's raining in Tasmania in winter....never happens! Numbers 1~3 are the ones not to mishear, you can usually get by on the others with a bit of underwear staining and a few choice words to the nav.
To confuse matters, a 1-6 system is also commonly used.

I always thought the numbers represented the angle of the corners.
Like when he said "6 right", meaning a 60 degree angle right corner is approaching, or when he says "9 left" its a 90 degree to the left coming up.
It seemed like that was the code for the corners as i was watching the video.

The turn"circle" is divided into 90* segments, with 1~3 (in the 1~10 system)covering a turn from 90* to 180*....3 being 90, as it's pretty difficult to differentiate, a lot in speed on these corners, it's not hugely beneficial to subdivide into smaller increments, other than for safety reasons.
4~10 cover 0* to 90*, which is helpful, as they are the more commonly encountered corners and give more precise descriptive information to the driver - for a hopefully faster stage time.....so there is not as such, an equal angle assigned to each number in the different quadrants.
Also finished last weekend, an improbably victory for an FD in a 1300km marathon gravel rally in New Zealand, sounds like a close run thing, with terminal water seal failure judging by the report....

May be wrong, but think it's his first rally experience.
You'd be amazed at the number of circuit racing guys, who go out all guns blazing in their first event and end up planted in the scenery...usually takes a couple of events at least to get your ear in - and then there is the small issue of believing the co-driver when he says "flat crest straight", when all you can see is green trees or blue sky ahead....hopefully, not lost his place in the notes and trying to cover! The guy in the Rx7 is from that background too and ended up on his lid a few years back.
