Cop Cars
You're probably looking at a mid-high 14second FD that tops out at 140MPH once you add all the weight for the police equipment and the drag from the light bar. Not that running from any police car is a good idea, but unless you are in a stock civic DX, I dont think it would me much to worry about.
So, in other countries, do they roll around in cars like all these often, or is it like here when you see a camaro, viper, corvette, etc. cop car and it's usually because it was part of some drug bust and was taken from them, or never was claimed after being stolen, or some deal like that.
We have a few sports car cop cars, but each one has a story behind it how it ended up being police property. THey didn't just go buy one.
Just was curious.
It doesn't take much to smoke a police interceptor crown victoria, 0-60 was I believe in the low 8 second range and you couldn't drive them over 120 without seriously asking for control problems. The new hemi chargers are putting down a 0-60 in about 6 seconds without any modifications. So if you decide to run from them, you better just be a good getaway driver.

I would love to see a "mild" FD3S have the same kind of sound and feeling as say a 355 or 430 with a kresseig exhaust and test-pipes. Granted the 360 was not really a success.
As for a mild mods FD keeping up with one, I can believe that, maybe more then just mild mod. One with full bolt ons, a light weight fly, racing clutch, tuned with higher boost would have no problem keeping up with a ferrari from a roll. Until you have tried it you really wouldn't know.
I raced a f430 f1 trans. from a 80-105 mph roll and he put zero distance on me, I even had a passenger in my turbo fb. Granted mine has a lot less weight then an fd but power to weight ratio is supreme in highway pulls.
not all ferrari's are great performers, the truth is a decently modded fd will keep up with most ferrari's barring the top of the line f40's, enzo's, etc.. that takes a bit more work than mild modding.
i bet half the people with 99spec or BNR stage 2 turbos and a good performance tune on this forum could beat a 360 both on a circuit and in a drag race. add a street or larger port and the fd will beat most ferrari's except their top level supercars.
take a look at damian de la huerta's car for example, he is faster than lamborghini gallardo's on the circuit. he would probably still be faster with a lot less hp.
with serious lightening efforts (that can cost nothing by the way, except your own elbow grease) you can get an fd down to near f40 weight, and since our engines are truely awesome power generators it's not impossible to exceed the performance of a ferrari F40 with less than 10,000$ in engine, suspension and supporting mods.

maybe i shoulda been a little more specific but i guess it didnt go without saying, i was mainly targeting my statement at the 360 and simmilar ferrari's. no way a "mild fd" is gona keep up with an enzo or f40 or f50, but they also cost a million plus. im just saying they are overrated because as far as best bang for your buck goes, a saleen s7 beets the enzo any day of the week at a fraction of the price. but i dont wanna argue with anyone thats my opinion, that and my thought of a "mild fd" might be different then others. but either way miata mx5 you get an old 5.0 with just nitrouse and drag radials, and ill get my fd back to "mild" satus and we can meet in north cali and race, no money just for ***** and grins. we gota wait till i have boost again cause my primary turbo just took a crap on me this week. but thats my 3 cents
Dont hate on Ferrari's... I have been to the factory, I have built the cars on the line beside the italians that do it everyday, and I get to work on and drive them everyday... As for the V8 ferraris... I bet you could beat the models that have came out before the F430... as for the F430, well its a little better... Now lets not forget the V12 models, the 575, 612, or now the 599... ya, in a 1/4 miles you'll win... they arent made to launch... as for around a track thats a little harder... its very possible though... They just go around that track just as fast as you, and do it in full street trim while youre pretty comfortable listeinin to the radio... Not to mention the shear status factor that comes with being a ferrari owner.... Anyone can get a porsche, or a lamborghini, or corvette, etc... but its not as easy to obtain a Ferrari... just my .02 cents...
oh and if you want to put a modded 7 against a ferrari, at least put it against the "track" model... the 430 Scuderia thats for sale now... its more oriented to "racing" and I honestly think it would be a true accomplishment to beat it around a track...

That was not the point, there are plenty of cheaper cars that can be made to run with the more $$$$ cars from the factory. But, the thing is, the only way you can even do that is with a good level of modifications. A ferrari is a complete package, FROM THE FACTORY, with a warranty.
It has the the quality that a Z06 does not have, and the charisma a porsche wished it could have. A Z06 is cheaper, and the porsche is more reliable. But, guess what, when i look at a ferrari, it makes me feel like a kid again. Which is what exotic cars are supposed to do.
A Porsche, Z06, or Lamborghini does not have ferrari looks or ferrari sounds. Very similar concept with the NSX. The NSX was about a complete package car from the factory from japan. That is what the Diablos, F355s, and NSXs of the world are for. Not for pure speed.
porshe and lambo's may be easyer to acuire, but i still think they have the status that a ferrari does, great all around performance outa the factory, most are cheaper, but still only a select few go out and buy them. kinda the same reason must of us own 7's they arent the most expensive, still have a status to them, not alot of them out there and very easily can be modded to each individuals needs weather it be an all out track car or a beast of a daily driver. cause hell not all of us can afford to roll out in top name brand factory race cars like a porsche, ferrari, or lambo. buy anyway back on track anyone got pics of anymore crazy cop cars? somewere ive seen a picture of a 4 passenger jet painted in black and white with a cop logo on the side. anyone know wich pic. im talkin about?
