cleaning my uim

hi, im in the process of taking out my uim to put my fpr and some other stuff. i already taken out the uim and i want to clean it because is dirty *** ****, it seems the owner that rebuild the engine didn't know how to work clean lol. i bought some paint remover because it it was painted black(ugly as hell) and i remove the paint, but it still has grease and freaking dirt that won't come off. i was thinking if i could buy some gasoline, diesel or degreaser and dump the uim in there but im not sure if its okay, if anyone has done this and has cleaned his uim and other stuff, tb etc. please tell me what method you use because i really want to clean these so i can paint it with a nice grey color. don't know if this is the right section for this but wth.

thanks

Search for it. I've seen plenty of pictures and even some write ups on this topic.
