LoL me either. Every time I watch the video I kept expecting it to choke and stall in the middle of the water..... I wonder how that blistering hot turbo manifold liked getting splashed with water.
The Rx-01 concept looks better than the rx-8 IMHO. The front end looks a bit like the last Cosmo model from some angles.

RX-01 was not the precursor to the RX-8. That was called the RX-Evolv. The RX-01 was just after/during the FD being in production. It was a return to a small light rotary powered sports car. It was the 'new' RX-7. The evolv and RX-01 look nothing alike. The dimensions are totally different.

well, im not too fond of the rear, but that really could have been a cool MR sports car for mazda... somthing like a 2nd gen MR2... I think that was FR, but it would have made a better MR...

That RX-01 was brillant, such a shame it never made it to production.
Light as a Miata and powered by a 220 HP Renesis, it would get similar performance to an FD without the trouble of dual turbos. I also really liked the front end styling, particularly the huge front spoiler. It would have meant a return to form for the RX-7, as a lightweight simple sports car for the masses.
Ah well, the 8 isn't a bad car either.
