'91 vert stereo question...amp or speakers???

I recently picked up a '91 vert that had its headunit ripped out. I'm trying to install a new head unit (bose factory unit from an '01 audi...nice red lights!) and cannot seem to get much sound out of the door speakers. There is some sound, just weak and scratchy. All speakers are connected to the line-outs on the head unit. If it is the amp, where is it located? I've looked under the dash and can't seem to locate anything...perhaps it was removed as well...just don't know what I'm looking for.

btw...the headrest speakers and woofers behind the seat are working fine...it's just the fronts. did the factory headunit power the fronts and send only signals to the back? Schematic does not detail the wiring between the headunit and the door amps. Is that because it was part of the head unit?

THe amp, or what looks like an amp, is in the back spare tire comp. on the drivers side mounted to the frame.

-dont quote me on the info, but i think it looks like an amp.

I have a factory parts manual for the '91. Its very vague but both the woofer amp and pillow amp appear to be mounted in the back section behind the seats. That stuff was great for its time but 15 years later its time to pitch it.

I have a '90 vert and that is what I am going to do this fall. Good luck with yours.

I hear from a TII owner that his was behind the panels with the ducting on the passengers side, suppose to be a pain in the *** to get to.
