It is amazing how much different yet similar rc cars are than normal cars. First off, turbos or superchargers dont work. Electrics are actually faster than their nitro(no, it is not nos) counterparts. The speed capability is amazing(electric has the record at around 135mph); gas cars are actually much more difficult to increase performance beyond stock. They have 2cc engines putting out about 2 horsepower. And the electric motors spool up to around 60k rpm. Before I got the rx7, I was a devoted racer and had several full sponsorships. But I dont miss spending $100+ every weekend, and $1000+ for the larger races. Believe it or not, the the best handling body for racing is the Stratus for outdoor asphalt, and Alfa for indoor carpet, haha.

No, an rs4 would not accept a rotary engine, not to mention the power band is way off for these cars, hence why we dont use other airplane motors in our cars.

I raced a Stratus body in my old electric days.

When I was reading this, I was surprised to see no one bringin up they're old r/c days (until pg 2). Every now an then, I'll fire up the ol things. RS4 Racer2 (I cant even recall how much money went into that damn thing) and TMaxx (stock, but fun as hell) and Yokomo DP. If anyone is from the north bay (cali guys) check out my uncle's shop, Vallejo Nitro (I believe). He has an on road track, but his clientel has since migrated into the helis. Show some support to him, really down to earth.

Thats cool. I used to remember when the NRS4 (the 1st one) was pretty new on the market. Bunch of my buddies dumped a lot of money into them and I almost bought one myself. Used to have a T-Maxx too but now I have a Savage.

Does your uncle's shop have a website?

I was really into RC cars for awhile, They are so much fun, but way to expensive for me right now. Funny thing is Im selling all my rc car equipment for an 85 RX7. I already sold a majority of it, just got a Nitro TC3 left for sale on ebay. If anyone is interested

Its all fun and games until somebody steals your frequency and your $600 dollar car hits a wall at about 50mph and sits there at WOT.

Hey at least you have a chance to rebuild.

I lost a $500 dollar boat on Lake Michigan in July.
Bye bye boat never to be seen again, at least by me.
Thinking back I should have put my name and phone.

So three weeks of prep. I finally painted it with the color for the rx3
late on Friday got up on Saturday and after four tanks of nitro. gone on a full
gas tank due east. (Call 911, call the coastguard runaway boat) yea right.
I don't even have a picture.

Thanks
Rick
