I read about a project last year where some guys were installing an RB motor from an R32 into an FD. Color of the car looks familiar but I don't remember what magazine it was. If this is the same car, it's very impressive! From the time I seen the guys in Cali drop a 2JZ in an FD, I knew the RB motor would fit. Thought about it but my pockets ain't that deep

I love the "I hate piston engines in these cars.... but that is sweet" why? cause its japanese? really everyone should say you hate domestic engines. besides who needs low end torque when you can launch like that beast.
That was the worst 1000rwhp launch I've ever seen. I hope with all that money he can take some driving lessons.
after getting that outta the system, I do like the rb26 engines as well as the 2jz, tons of freakin money into this swap and it looks pretty bad ***.

id think that itd throw off the weight balance and handling even more than an LS1, being a very long, heavy iron block sticking that far in front of the front wheel centerline. im sure it sounds awesome and goes like hell, it definately looks incredible, but if they're gonna drop a piston engine in there, make it something that'll preserve the handling and nature of the car, maybe something along the lines of the aluminum yamaha v8 in some new volvos or an LSX (something obtainable, not like a ferrari V8)
And like someone else said, everyone needs to stop saying they hate the "piston motor swaps", and just come right out with the truth, you don't like seeing domestic muscle in your precious japanese sports car... Personally I don't like the fact that it is completely toying with the balance of the car, which is its high point in the first place! not that it has a rotary!
It's nice and clean, but I don't see any reason that couldn't have been done to a 240, or some other nissan powered car that would accept the swap nicer... shock factor? it's not shocking anymore, everyone almost expects people to do stuff like this... Go look in the classifieds, LSX swapped FD's are almost as plentiful as rotary powered FD's, it's not unique anymore ... Oh well, one day someone will want a pure FD that hasn't been tainted by a silly engine swap, and when that day comes I will be one of the few that hasn't turned my car into something it was never intended to be, and then i'll bank off it .

still has that TERRIBLE cage it looks like, its runs like 6 inches away from the already cramped a-pillar. yuck. also, that engine is a huge heavy fat beast, but atleast they're using it to its full potential.

the only thing i see that is cool about this is that it is a FD and its got 1000 hp... every thing else about it is dumb if you are going to swap a piston motor in to a RX7. then why not do something worth it like a good old USA V8... its the only real way to get power out of a piston motor... you can get to 1000hp NA with a good V8 and it would have been cheeper then throw a turbo on it and you are really making some power now
nice looking car dump motor choice its kinda like having a honda and swaping a RSX motor in it for the money you put in to the swap you could have made the stock motor have more HP
rotor or V8 the only way to be fast

First, it looks like a show car so I doubt anything is getting on or in that car. Second, those 'holes' actually exist in the stock car. The reason you see them on this car is that the plastic wheel well liner is not mounted on this car because of the aftermarket swept fenders. The liner would not fit with these fenders.

I like this car. I like LSX based cars, and I love the good ol' rotary still in your car. What this car says to me is,"Put some slicks on it, and let's take it to the strip." This car doesn't need balance. Obviously if you look at the power (1,000HP) and the motor (RB26, heavy ******* engine that throws off our precious weight balance), then you see this is probably a DRAG car...Yes the LSX based cars don't really throw of our weight balance, and in some cases are lighter in the front end. I'm not opposed to piston power in rotary based vehicles. I still have my rotary in mine. This is just beast, and those who oppose...I don't know what to say to you guys. I like it, and it looks good, and sounds good. I give the car a 8 out of 10. Most of that is power, looks, and actually completing a swap that is pretty rare if not done before in this car. ^5
