Wideband and Regular O2 sensor needed?

It may be just an Off the wall question.
But I got the wideband hooked up,and reading AFR's on the gauge( normal).(been on there for a season)
When I first hooked it up I had the Engine harness wire going to the Wideband sensor,.figuring that the ECU needed to see what teh AFR's were.
is this Correct?
Now,I got the sensor on my Downpipe.about 30 inches and the Stock O2 sensor up near the Turbo.Do I really need to have the Regular sensor In, hooked to the Harness?Or can I just use the Wideband for both the harness connection and to read off the Gauge.(AEM right now, going to Innovate).
I hope the question isn't too confusing.Frankly I am going to have a lot more!.Thanks Guys,STYX.

Some people have reported problems with using a narrowband simulation wire. If it were me, I would leave the stock O2 sensor in there and not touch anything related to it.

I use the narrowband simulation for my gauge, just because my gauge is for NB(0-1V), and left the factory one in the stock location, all wired up. WB02 sensor only read through the RTEK/Palm.

I have the feeling that is what I will ultmately do,.leave the stock o2 hooked up to harness and run the Wideband to a Gauge.
I am now going to run Innovate Wideband,so I am gonna have 2 versions of that( I buy in Bulk,,haha!) .
I'm hoping to get a set of 1000's so I can 'sort of' copy Solareon's Info( break 300hp).
That would give me a Better map that just running the Rtek on Stock 720x4.
I have the Mods to do that.
So much to learn,so much to do,...Damn,I am gonna do as much as I can and then just DRIVE the damn thing and shut my wallet,so I can get a Daily for winter!
Cheers STYX.
