Rtek palm reviews
Palm m515 worked well for me until I forget to charge it.
Managed to get POSE working with a EeePC, USB-serial adapter, and a null modem cable/adapter and using that for long-term logging. I use the m515 to change settings.
The m5xx series didn't HotSync through USB for me so I had to get a serial adapter anyway.

The zire 71 is the best one ive used. entering timing maps are alot easier because you can hold the thumb stick up or down to scroll through numbers faster. STILL takes for ever to enter timing maps. Me and my wife were taking turns entering them. It was devastating.
Palm m130 and m515 are what I use. The m515 bogs down a little bit when scrolling through the maps. They *will* forget all settings and software when the battery drains completely. I use PInstall to install the RTek app. (Palm Desktop not needed, unless you need to set/change the Palm's username). The Palm OS emulator is another option, although I don't prefer it. This thread tells you what you need to get the emulator working.
Has anyone used the palm v? How does it fair up against the other PDA devices? Looking into buying one cause from the digital tuning site looks like they still sell hot sync cables for it.
I've got a palm M130 and it seems to work well. I replaced the battery in it so it holds a charge well now. It also has the SD card slot but I haven't used it yet. Still just kind of playing around with the rtek and learning how to use it.
Okay the palm V seem to be okay but holy crap trying to get it to work on windows 7 is a pain. It kept giving me a com1 connection issue and it wouldn't show up in the device manager. I had to revert to Vista and XP (works without any problems on XP). the palm OS also installs updates and has a backup folders that screw with the digitizer so my palm only worked at two points on the screen which was annoying as hell. Once the folders are removed the it works fine. Now the screen icons have to be touched in a certain way (slightly above the icon and at some points at a specific spot.) but aside form that I'm going to give the tuning a go and see how the unit holds up.
Yeah, getting old Palm Desktop to work on Windows 7 is practically impossible. I use pilot-link on Linux to install PRCs and do backups. It doesn't have a flashy GUI or anything, but it works very well.
