palm reviews
ok i know that there is an android application in the works but until then
what palm devices work for you!!!
in my experience the T3 was the worst. it had data drop off , and communication issues with the rtek, some others report this issue as well.
palm III worked well but did not have enough touch screen points to make changing things on the map easy, but the battery was crap.
palm m100 works well. runs on batteries but does not have a memory card slot . when the batteries run out i have to back it up prior to changing the batteries. it does not store information when the batteries are out, it dumps info. thus if the batteries deplete while out and about. your SOL and you have to run home and re-install rtek back on it after replacing batteries.
what i want out of a palm is a memory card slot that even if the batteries run out, rtek program will still be there. i also want a palm with out complicated battery replacing process (t,t2,t3 ect) and that has a good touch screen.

Guys please, we've been through this already several times. There is NOTHING like what he is describing. Yes the individual cables exist but the do not plug into each other. You can't connect two USB A cables together.
---> usb male-->double female---> 2nd usb male?
sorry if you have covered this several times but i have been searching on this topic for the past few days and information is limeted, i am considering buying an sj30 because i cant get my current palm to sync with my computer anymore or rtek 2.1 anymore. but im not going to buy an sj30 if no more hotsync cables exist..
thanks alex
You can't do that. Even if you could find a double USB A adapter (nothing should exist like that), the two USB devices would not "talk" as they require a host (such as a PC).
I would not recommend a Clie if you do not already have a serial hotsync cable.

If you would like help getting your existing Palm working, please make a help ticket at PocketLOGGER Help System
well i found them..first thing that popped up on google..anyway, doesnt matter if they wont "talk" to each other i suppose. what hotsync cables are considered readily available, i just want a palm that has a high hotsync success rate lol.

. . . just wait for the android app... if you cant wait. get a palm III like i have. its battery powered and you can use a germo usb to serial converter usb2.0 premium connector to hook it up to a pc/lap top.
model usa-ftdi-8
product name usb to rs-232 converter
works like a 50$ product would.
I've been using a Palm Vx and one of the Magellan GPS backpack things that clips on to it that I gutted out and turned in to a serial cable. The default Palm Vx serial cables dont make a very good connection but the cradle-style clips do. It's got flash memory, so even when it's battery dies, I don't lose my logs and the RX7 Logger app.
We use a Zire 71 with no complaints besides disconnects. I replaced the internal battery with a new high capacity one and it holds well. Backlit/color screen, decent size, overall not bad (for a Palm).
