HotSync problems

Computer crashed real bad. Bought new cheap E-Machine.

Successfully downloaded PALM DESKTOP and JAVA. They hot sync just fine and dandy.

Downloaded RX7PLVIEWER and ZTPLVIEWER after putting the dot JAR in the file name. Both Icons are now on the desktop.

Drove the car and logged a couple of times. HOTSYNCed to the desktop. Acted like a normal hotsync.

Opened RX7PLVIEWER and it shows the rotor symbol. Clicked files. Went to OPEN. Went down the bunny trail from C.....Program file..........Palm One.....S.......Backup. Golly gee, my new logs are not there but it shows two logs I made last July.

Hold the PALM in my hand and go to logs and there are the two logs I made this day, not the logs I made last July.

The jpg below shows two RX7LOGGERPRC that should have been loaded when I did the HotSync. Didn't happen. Looks like there should have been but one PRC file. I have two different dates on 'em. KInda drug those up off an old, old computer I originally used for RTEK stuff.

Palm M515 has my name at the top and the PALMDESKTOP HotSync Manager shows my name in the user account. Name spelled right both places i.e. Palm and Desktop.

Anybody got a clue????

I figure I'm going to DELETE anything to do with PLVIEWER and Palm and start over again. Oppps....been there...done that.

I've a second Palm I'll try. I doubt that is the problem.

EDIT: Ooops, I looked at the APPLICATIONS on the PALMDESKTOP and dont' see anything RX related. Should I? Is there another file I should have downloaded? LIke the files I got yrs ago when I bought the RTEK? and when I bought Zt ?

Its that the new version of the Palm desktop moved the backup folders.

Search your machine for ".pdb" files. When you find a log, right click it and choose "open containing folder" (or something along those lines) and it will bring you to the folder that the log is in. Note where it is so you can reference it later.

Well, I find what is seen in the attachment. Two different backups for two differnt Palm OS???

Did a hard reset on the Palm. Wiped out RTEK and ZDL loggers. Did a hotsync and they came back. Went to RTEK on the Palm and hit VIEW. Had one log for 9/3/09 only.

Went to the RTEKPLVIEWER on the computer and selected it. Went down the bunny trail and finally got to BACKUP. Opened same and got not the 9/3/09 but two older logs (seen in the attachment).

Maybe I'm going down the bunny trail and taking a wrong turn in the briar patch? Yes, I guess so. Mabe wipe out the new Palm OS and go to one of the old computers and copy the older Palm programs and put it on the new computer...

I think I finally realized what Turbo2ltr meant. I kept taking the same ole path thru the briar patch and kept expecting different results each time. Duh.

So I finally took the right turn thru the briar patch and found the new log made 9/03/09.

Thank you. I think my problems are over.

I believe in reincarnation. When I come back I hope to come back as a chicken with its head cut off. That'd be an improvment over what I just went thru.
