Sorry to come late to the thread. We are thrashing to get ready for the Runoffs.

A couple of things about Gateway, yes the facilies are TOP NOTCH, although the road course is short, it also flows well, is fun to drive and easy to learn. Downside is that like any road course within an oval there are walls to be aware of. I have been an instructor and assistant chief instructor for numerous SCCA and marque club driver's schools, and would be willing to take on a "chair" role for the roadcourse activities if desired.

For autocross, the local SCCA region has in the past provided timing and scoring equipment and taken care of setting up, running and tearing down the autocross course for a very reasonable fee + letting them take some runs. I can coordinate this if it is desired.

Autocrosses are generally set up on the drag course parking lot, so there may be some coordination to fit everything in.

I have a pretty good relationship with Dan Harmon the road course manager at Gateway, so if I can be of help there please let me know.

My shop is five minutes from the track and I would be willing to provide dyno services at a greatly reduced cost, or even bring the dyno to the track (Dynapack) if the attendance would justify it.

I would like to be involved for sure, especially if the event is to be at Gateway, I can help out a lot there. But as far as financial details you guys are already ahead of anything I can offer if you have spoken with Gail. I can offer some pros and cons and more details about working with Gateway and contracts as things get more solid.

Let me know if I can help any other way. I'm not very good at keeping up with pm's so e-mail to steve@lunch.org would be better if you want a fast answer - I will continue to monitor this thread too.

There were a few guys there as fill-ins to unused track slots. The level of involvement was they were there to have fun, and they did have to pay, but they didn't set anything up.

And thank you too Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

All depends on what the actual cost is, then we can play with the admission costs, vendor fees, etc. From this point, let's get a list of who's interested and take the rest of detailed discussion offline.

So please, copy the list and add yourself and where you're from or who you represent and post.

How about a meeting Monday at 7 or 8PM CDT either via a chat session or teleconference. When the list is compiled, I'll send a PM (or email) to everyone with the info.

What's the preference? AIM, Yahoo, MSN? We can probably do a VoIP chat using Skype or the other chat utilities on the listed IMs.

Well...the saying too many hands in the pot applies. I think two people did a great job with what they had, but they were concentrating a lot of time to this which I certainly don't have that. As far as the organizers of this, absolutely no more than 10 will work.

Thanks for the compliments! I appreciate them. I haven't gotten any response from Aron, so I don't think I'll be much help. Sorry! I asked a family member of his what was going on and I was told that there are some legal things going on in the background. Therefore, my understanding is that he's withdrawn from the whole situation. He may have even been advised not to respond to anyone.

At any rate, if you need any help with the upcoming event(s), I would be happy to try and help out with anything that I can.

Kim...

He could at least respond in SOME way. There's nothing that would have been said to prevent him from that kind of information or at least say he couldn't say anything.

I know. It's really frustrating. I'm really not sure why he's not responding AT ALL...even to say that he can't/won't respond.

Too far? Not at all. I drove it every year, and would love to have another one to drive to. As long as it's under 1000 miles, I'm there automatic. Beyond, it's a maybe if I can get extra days off.

Any updates? And are you going to keep this strictly for rotaries like the previous Revolutions? Because I attended the last two revolutions with a rotary in my car, but have since swapped to an LS1 while I'm finishing up college (I'll be packing on quite a few miles). I would still love to come! Let me know. Thanks.

A couple of thoughts from an outsider, who attended in 05.
The previous organizers lost a considerable amount of personal money in putting this thing on, if they were telling the truth. I talked with one of them last year. You can blame the weather if you want, but you would be wrong. The weather happened when we got there, long after we committed to making the trip and paying our reg fee.
I say this not to throw water on your idea, just to inject some objectivity in to the discussion.
One of the problems of the weather is it will actually hurt any subsequent events, IF you use the same name. Although, with a better date, I would think that problem should be overcome.
Also, I know that the organizers were trying to secure better dates than the one we had, but everything was booked. I know I suggested taking a look at Heartland Park in Topeka, KS as a possible alternative venue, but he didn't seem real interested. By the way, that is the home headquarters of the SCCA.
I think your point about getting vendors involved is key. The more vendors, the more advance money you can raise. Last year the weather kicked their *** pretty bad. A couple of them never even showed up.
The seminars were pretty well attended, and I think are a good idea. Plus, most of them are the vendors, and it's another plug for them and their products.
I would be willing to help if I can, I am in Oklahoma City and I am in the hotel industry. Possibly, I could help in negotiating the hotel rates. If you decide to have any kind of awards ceremony/banquet I could be the point person there also.
Thanks for listening.
Dave

A fellow FD owner here in Denver is building a private track. It won't be done this year, but maybe in 2008 we could host Seven Stock here in Colorado. It will have a huge road course, drag strip, and autocross/drift lot. I have been organizing the Rotary Meets now for about 5 years but would be lost trying to do something this big.
