No revs past 4500 rpm

Drove my 88 rx7 non-turbo yesterday and my car will not go beyond 4500 rpm when im driving. When in neutral it revs all the way to redline. I have heard of 3800 hesitaion but not at 4500. Did not do this last year before I put it away for the winter. Should I put new grounds or what? Please help!!!!!

I've the catalytic converter cause some weird issues like that. Take off the cats and take a test run, if you pick up 100hp, you found your problem.

For a long lasting, high quality converter experience, you might want to try the bonez converter system found at... www.rx7.com

Good luck,
Ari

i had the same problem but if i just gave it 1/2 throttle it would go. ran a bottle of seafoam and changed the fuel filter made it better but didnt fix it. tryed taking the cats off and that just made it loud and alittle faster but nothin big.

I just got my 88 n/a up and running after it sat for thirteen years. After a week of running around town mine was hesitating in roughly the same manner. The problem occurred all of a sudden. I read that it was either the secondary injectors or the 5th/6th throttle plates not opening properly. I noticed while revving the engine with the hood up that they weren't opening. So after manually opening them, problem solved. I'd try to see if they might just be stuck like mine, or digging deeper and removing the fuel rail and giving your secondaries a good cleaning.

Your catalytic converter is dead... If your cats are bad, it wont go past a certain rpm.
