Who here is running Tilton Flow Control for drag racing?

Hi guys, how many of us Drag racing run the Tilton Flow control?

Since moving up from a twin plate to Tripple plate clutch, I have been breaking input shafts on the gearbox and drive shafts, despite me Preloading the drivetrain on launch.

From reading the info on the Tilton site this could offer a solution by slipping the clutch automatically.

So any experiances and how many people who use it let me know please

I've had one since last year but never installed it, I finally installed it after my last output shaft failure, I'll let you know in 2 weeks how it works for me.

I know of one other rotorhead that uses it and he swears by it. I also installed the largest orifice.

so im guession you got the m10x1.0 to -3 adapters and ran 3-couplings? do you have a better hardware solution? I was scared it would turn into a 8 inch long contraption

or did you just use the adapter to -3 off the Clutch MC and slave and run -3 insead of the clutch line, seems like a more managable solution now that I say it out loud, hmmn I think I even have some -3 and fittings at the house.....ouch credit cards getting hot

Would you be able to post a pic of the valve installed in your clutch line system, looking to see where I would put mine.

I understand what this object is used for, but I have one question
(not being disrespectful here) Why would you need it though? are you making too much power to hook or something?

I have one. Works great. Keeps me from dumping the clutch and breaking axles.
It actually "slips" the clutch for you.
Only problem I have had with mine is the fittings leaking.
I am using the smallest orifice.

What 60 foot and how much power you making RXT? My question is, there are alot of guys on this forum running high hp and 10-11| slicks and dropping crazy 60ft without this valve....

Guess my question is... is this just another way to cover up that there is something wrong with the setup your using?

Hope I dont have to put a flame suit on now..

yes there are lot of guys making high hp and good 60fts and 10 second passes, but not everyone will actively post when they break an axle or gearbox.

There is only handfull of people in the 9s with stock gearboxes with no mods to the gearboxes, the info I need is to whether they use a valve like this or not

I never broke anything in a couple of years, I only started breaking stuff when I changed clutches , obviously my old twin plate was slipping saving the breakages but now my tripple plate holds all the power and does not slip with the high hp thrown at it

No need to worry abt a flame suit, its a honest question

Personally im tired of breaking ****, from output shafts, counless inner axle cups, this week I snapped the diff housing clean inhalf. if a 160$ valve can prevent the di$truction I cause, and make it so i can make more than 2 passes b4 breaking, and let me drive my car back up on the trailer/ into the garrage ill give up the .0x it takes off my passes

Good point bacon... But do you think you will give up much time off your passes with that unit?

I have my next race round on the 15th so hopefully have this fitted for then.
Hopefully I can run more then 1 BAR boost as I did a the last round LOL
I run a 11.00 @ 128 with a 1.5ft 60 ft no burnout and short shifting, the next run I did is when I broke the input shaft of the box

What I did for the install was just remove and cut the firewall clutch hardline (on FC) in the middle, took off a couple inches and just used tube fittings and a 37* flare tool. Put on -3 tube nuts on each side and tightened it up. Haven't had a chance to give it a go yet though.

Just take your slave cylinder line to a reputable hose shop and have them cut it in half and put two 3 an female hose end fittings on the ends and your done.

I installed one of these recently and will be trying it out at the track tonight. I got it to hopefully reduce chances of breaking now that I have 2 step launch control launching with boost and to try to be more consistent. I usually try to slip the clutch but was not very consistent last year. this and 2 step should make it much easier and better. first I installed it with the largest orifice as it comes ready, street driving and dropping the clutch I really didn't notice a difference so I put the middle size one in and it seems to work, when I let my foot off the clutch I can tell the pedal doesn't snap back up as fast, so it should let the clutch slip a little when dropping the clutch. and rides home with the tow truck are not as fun Haha

Only barely when you shift gears. It felt good at the track tonight. It makes shifting smoother on the street.

cheers Tom for the info most helpful

Just recieved my flow control today, I have ordered some -3 an female hose nuts and sleeves so I can install them into my clutch hardline, so all I will need is to cut the clutch hardline , put the sleeves and nuts and flare the ends, install the valve and I should be done, will post pics over the weekend of my install.

Aside from saving drivetrain parts which is good, if you have a overkill clutch in the car it will let the clutch have a controled slip on launch and in gear changes which makes the car faster and smoother.
