whats my problem?

So a few weeks back I go 6.89 @ 106mph with slipping clutch and also hit rev limit out of the hole. Third gear has been getting harder and harder to hit so I go ahead and put in a new jspec tranny and a new clutch. So I am going to the track thinking of a 6.6x-6.7x atleast. Air was warmer and had been very humid. My 60 footers were a tad slower 1.6 but I couldnt break 7.0 @ 103mph! Made all shifts fine. Car is still running good with no issues. Boost was the same (23-24psi) . With the power it makes and a 1.6 short time I am lost to why the shitty times. ????? Is this just the way it goes? CAn air quality play that big of a game? Or do I have other issues?

Air quality can make a difference but i would guess the slipping clutch kept the turbo in its sweet spot and was makeing more boost from the start!
Its not unusual for this to happen, you might even put more air in the tires and spin alittle bit and improve times but i think you need more boost out of the hole!

You will figure it out im sure just more practice!

I did run a tad more tire presure on the first pass. 1.63 then lowered it to 11.5psi and went 1.59. What gets me is even if I went a tad slower on the 60 footer wouldnt you think 600rwhp would go high 6's on that pass? Oh well.... going to IFO next weekend and leting it all hang out..

I hear you on the third gear shifts. LOL. Does the Jspec trans have the same gear ratios as your other trans? If they are different that could be the reason.

I was going to make fun of your granny shifting but I too have a T2 tranny street/drag car I don't know if I can hit low 10's shifting that.

The TII trans. does not like to shift at 10krpm's, that's one problem other than I just suck. With a turbo car you should be able to shift a little easier due to the lower rpm shifting. Good luck. When are you going to take your car out?
