Drag racing last night vid

Well, got 5 runs in last night in the 8th mile. I did some setup changes- some worked really well and others I have to work on. I'm still running rich and only had the time to change one jetting size and that helped. I miss shifted into 3rd gear two times- whenver I try to shift fast the TII trans just doesnt want to go in. Doesn't even grind just gets stuck, so as you can see in the vids I'm still granny shifting terribly. My 60ft dropped from a 1.67 to a 1.56, but my best time was a 7.85, which doesn't break my 7.83 record, so I am a little dissapointed but that's what R&D is all about. I cam home with nothing broken and had alot of fun so I'm good. On June 13 I am finally running the full 1/4 and this is where my new setup should shine so we shall see. Here's the vid. comments good or bad are welcome. LOL

Shadapp. When I said I wanted good or "BAD" comments I was excluding you Mel. You're right, I gotta learn that. I'm just scared I'm going to break the tranny. Oh well, TII trannies are pretty cheap. Anyone want to lend me a clutchless?

nice runs, shifting was a problem for me also, try not reving the motor so high and you will be able to slam in the gears.

I'm only shifting at 9500rpm's. If I shift any lower then I'm out of my powerband.

Thanks for the input. Yes, I do have an open scoop. And since I don't have a box down to the carb from the scoop, I am probably getting some turbulence that may not help. I'll give it a try covered up, what can it hurt right?

That's funny you say that because my little 12abp N/A is only one second slower than your Turbo charged FD you had. How much money did you steal and put into that FD?

Eric, I was hard on you in the past because you were a *****, but lately I have tried to make ammends and if I'm sure you have noticed that I have made some nice comments in your build thread, but I guess your still an *******. Oh well, once an ******* always an *******.

Don't listen to Eric, i am sure your car would pull all sorts of things out of a cats ***

But seriously, the car sounds great. You are definitely loosing a **** ton of time on the shifts. What fluid are you running in your trans?

I actually had to pull a bologna rind out of my dog's *** one time. Guess the little bastard somehow got a piece without anyone knowing. Then I see this little piece of red stuff sticking out.

Thanks, yeah that's what its all about. I wish more rotary guys would come out to the track too. I usually am the only rotary there. Sometimes like on this nite, my friend Chris came out, but we need more of you guys out there representing for sure.

Thanks Allen, I'm running royal purple synchromax in my trans. I have no excuses. I just suck at shifting. I am more afraid of missing a shift and not nowing how my tune went so I granny shift. I have been concentrating on my tune and set up so my shifting is lazy. I am now going to concentrate on my driving skills. My reaction time is off the chain. I had a perfect light and the others have been really close too so I just need to concentrate on slamming gears. A clutchless trans would easily knock of a half a second or more, but not in the budget for a good while.

That is nasty. I just throw my dog in the backyard and let her deal with it naturally.

Thank you sir, your RX3 was and still is one of my favorites. Do you plan on ever running a N/A car ever again?

Good to see and hear your little RX-2 on track How heavy is your flywheel? Kind of to short 1st gear and to damn wide spread thenKeep up the good work and lower your times next time

I actually just switched from the lightened steel to the stock heavy flywheel. I noticed with the lighter flywheel my car would bog a little off the line, even at 10,200rpm launches. It launches much better with the heavier flywheel(more enertia), but then after the launch the heavier flywheel obviously doesn't rev up as quick through the gears. It's a toss up. Next time the trans is out I'm going to shave a little weight off the stock flywheel and I think I'll be set. The gearing in the stock TII trans is not ideal for N/A. Some day I'll invest in a good trans. Just have other things I want to do first, like body and paint, roll cage and lexan. Money, money, and more money. You know how it goes.

If you car is strictly a drag car then send your gearset to liberty's and have them do the face engagement mod. The reason most people with turbo cars don't mess with the factory box if for strength reasons but you don't have to worry about that. IIRC the mod is only like $75-$100 per gear. That would cure all your problems without having to buy a $5000+ transmission.

Allen, can this be done to my fd tranny as well? I too suck *** with the 3rd gear shift! Who is the guy to talk with there? Also I just run whatever for fluid as I always thought the redline and such was a waste. Should I try royal purple in there?
