What trans for a 12a?!
well, as some of you know, I'm starting my nitrous 12a project. Slowly gonna get this one done right. Next on my list of "help I need", is a good transmission!
Being in a very high revving motor, in a very light car, I'm unsure as to what I'll be punching gears with. I'd love a nice sequential 3-4 speed. Just worried about buying a transmission that will cost more then my car, which I'd assume anybody would have to think twice about. A turbo350 would be a cheap manual shifted trans I could run. I'm just not sure how much power it would eat up, or how much weight I'll really end up adding. A true manual would be cool, but I'm really worried about high rpm mis-shifts due to the fact I have never had to hold a rotary open like I will in a 1/4. Let alone with a lot of nos coming through.
Any good ideas? Prices? Something good for the track, something that won't runt half a years pay. And something that isn't a lead weight drinking up half my power.
This is still in the planning stage, so I'm really looking for some good, and experienced help!
Car: 1st gen 7, backhalfed on a ford 9".

I am working on something very similar to your setup. I will be running an Rx-4 4 speed, with a TII output shaft and gears faceplated by Liberty Gears. Mine is a stock chassis '83 LE, 13B bridge, NOS through a Ford 8.8. Cost for the faceplating by liberty will be less than $500 for 2,3,4 with new sliders.
