What do you guys think about the rules?

Just wondering what you guys think. Down here in the dirty south the modified street class rules for IMPORT FACE OFF are :

Modified/Street
Proudly sponsored by:

•Single Power Adder
•Tire Limits: •FWD: Full Slicks
•AWD and RWD: DOT Approved (must have stamp)

•Front half of interior, single seat ok
•Open/any exhaust allowed
•Fuel Cells must be 5 gals or more
•Engine/Transmission swaps allowed only within same make (Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infinity, Toyota/Lexus, etc) •Must have at least 3 forward speeds

•Transmission swaps to out of mfg transmission is not allowed without coordinated engine swap.
•Current Tag required

So to me I am thinking the slicks for FWD is a tad unfair. I see it as these little light *** honda's already have the advantage with no weight limits. Most are making north of 700rwhp. Just seems if slicks are added in the class it goes to both cars not just fwd. Besides if you require tags on the back it shouldnt have slicks period!

Valid point and is fair to say because some of those guys are pulling good 60fts but there will always be the it's fwd excuse.

Isn't this the "Forced Induction Sport" class??

The rules you posted do not correlate with the info on Import Faceoff's website.

Maybe I'm confused...

you are correct. Meant "IMPORT SHOW DOWN". Have no issue with the face off event.

The first event went down and as I expected it was dominated by fwd cars on slicks. I cant imagine they weigh anymore than 1700-1800lbs and making 700-800+hp is fast. These guys were trapping 150+ running mid 9's. Just think both cars should be allowed on slicks.

Most of those guys run basically in sfwd trim so their weight is about 2200-2300lbs. Yes they pull high traps due to their power but lack down low where the rwd/awd have the advantage

Ahhh I just saw your other thread about Import Showdown, not it all makes sense.

As for the FWD cars allowed to run slicks, I say screw'em, let them run slicks and still get beat. Theres a local guy in Houston with an EG hatch running over 1000hp...with huge slicks on it, and his disadvantage is that the car is still FWD...its a kickass car, and runs like a bat out of hell, but its still FWD.

Thats my point. They have the advantage up top and us down low. SO its even. Both should be able to run slicks IMO.

Honestly, I wouldnt beat some of them anyway but just thought the rule was odd.

Its the same in IFO also...I suppose the majority of races are FWD guys and when the majority complains about getting their asses handed to themselves week after week because of their own weakness's, the organizers change rules to accomadate them.

I remember something similiar a few years ago in a class where FWD cars could weigh xyz lbs but RWD cars had to weigh xyz+200 lbs.

Since fwd cars have zero business being on any kind of race track, the problem with the rules is that they are allowed at all. The fact that they can have slicks and rwd can't is definitely not fair though. Then again it is a ricer series so it's going to favor most ricers which means fwd.

The difference is, the argument that "imports shouldnt be at the race track at all" is completely baseless...there are RWD domestics and RWD imports, both with V8's (ex: Toyota), both with the same weight limits, both with the same power adder limits, both with the same tire limits, both with the same turbo mm limits, and the playing field is completely even...

The FWD guys have an obivous disadvantage OF THEIR OWN CHOICE and they cant compete with the RWD cars so rules get changed to their advantage when they have to go up against a RWD car because they are simply the majority. Total BS.

yes i understand that but those rules were even place against them when the B VS K series debate when k series were limited in turbo size and weight added but look at it now b series is running the pack with both Miller and Palo running 8.3's so the rules have gone both ways
