To get the right alignment the holes should not be drilled. The factory holes in the plates does not perfectly align to the holes in the rotor housings. The drill will automaticly follow the original hole in the rotor housing and you will not get the alignment you want.

I agree on the missed aligned holes. This is exactly what messed me up. But I think You can drill it but what I would do is use a dummy front iron. Drill the front holes out then use that as your guide for every plate and housing.

The best way (i think) if you still want to drill you should use a carbide mill (flat bottom) instead. And a carbide reamer to finish it.

Wow, old motor finally let go. That was some serious power...... made me feel like I was driving a yugo when your FD pulled away from mine! Hope the new build goes well. Hope Family is doing good. Holla

Het Chad! All good down here. Yeah motor cracked a front plate at 700hp. So if this next motor last half as long I will be thrilled. Last motor was low quality but was bullet proof. Now I am trying to build this one with quality parts. My luck it will break on the dyno!

Getting close. Just really waiting on SEAN @ A-Spec to finish my manifold. Sean does some badass quality work!

I have been waiting for Sean at aspec to finish my manifold. I should have it next week and I will get to work. I hope to tune it mid-to end of September. I wanted to wait until the best time of the year for some record breaking numbers.!!!

Longest motor build thread ever lol- good luck

sk8world 07-31-14 05:36 PM

Much more than a motor build. Balanced, clearenced, studded, new ecu, all new wiring, new ignition set up, new fuel system, that being said I could have finished it long ago if all the custom parts were quicker to get.

jetlude 08-01-14 09:08 PM

Got the alignment issues (motor)sorted?

sk8world 08-02-14 09:47 AM

Yes. Everything is good to go. Got manifold in last night so I will assemble motor this week and start making some progress. From the beginning my goal on this build was tii skip the hot summer weather and tune and race this fall.

Mike,
I don't want to say you're screwed but... It is almost impossible to "center" the drill bit on an existing hole using a standard drill press and expect accuracy. How did you determine the center? Because those drill presses have excessive amounts of deflection in them, you may be off one way on one hole and off the opposite way on another hole. That equates to the binding. You need to have them cnc'd or center bored and tapped on a "manual" milling machine. I worry about the longevity of your engine if they are binding at all.

I just realized that I responded on page 2/3 and it looks like you fixed your issue on page 3 :/
I hope all goes well, Mike. Its looking good!

Yeah, I definitely learned something this time around. I have assembled this motor a couple times and their is zero binding on the studs now.

Yes, 2 inch runners. This thing will flow!

Mike you build is looking awesome, have you decided on fuel pump yet?

Bacon 08-19-14 06:38 PM

Big pump=big power and no bullshit

Think the record holder needs a new nickname. Len "No Bullshit" Bacon. ;)

sk8world 08-22-14 07:54 AM

Not 100% sure on pump. Probably just put everything together as is to fire up and sort out then decide on fuel system to support.
