Angry Shake down last week... more stuff to do

I should have thought it over more , but going to Nopi for a shake down was a bad idea. One it was hot as hell, I didnt even try to make a pass untill it was dark and a cool 90 degrees. Four attmepts and I didnt get one clean pass..... Sad

Some guys were asking why I wasnt harder on the car? When the PFC says the air intake temps are 65c its not worth blowing the motor. My temps were normal but waiting in the staging lanes was bad. I need to make a cold air intake or spray the FMIC next time.

I was concerned I would just spin on my street tires, but that was the least of my problems. My launches werent bad but I had no idea my motor mounts were so worn. The one on the drivers side has a nice split in it and I could feel the flex in 3rd and 4th gear transitions. I thought it would be best to back off since my Fd is funded by myself. I just made the call for some new mounts from Mazda and hopefull I will take a few passes in two weeks at Mason Dixon.

One thing that was anoying was being attacked by kids that expect every FD to run 10's. Add to that the general population at one of these events is rolling or high on something. I should have written down how many kids told me they had RX7 that were all modified 500hp +, but at home.... go figure

Hey bud, it's Rob with the Yellow drag car. It was nice to meet ya, and know cares about what some spoiled kid says about anything. I if I realy cared about what anybody said I would have been out of the game years ago. With that said, it's funny, because I am selling my drag car, so I can build my street car. You have a great looking car, and thats that. Hope to see you in the future. Good luck with all the polishing.

Yeah that was mine. You like ?

I was looking for you Ernie. We got the car on the lift yesterday and the motor mount has a nice crack in it. It kinda resembled rubber but the heat cycles makes it feel like a chunk of coal. My diff mounts are trashed also. The learning curve continues, I thought I was just goint to have tire problem that day.

The car has 120k on it but I didnt expect the jump from 310 rwhp to 440 rwhp would make the transition between gears impossible. My tranny is good, car drives like a champ on the street but under load at the track the worn mounts problem were magnified.

Your an old dog at this Ernie , you know what I mean. The replacemnt parts are on order and I will give it a few more passes at the next test and tune when I have them on.

Yea, you parked in front of me. I towed my friends Supra down in my white F250 Turbo Diesel.
Your car is sweet. Very tastefully done. White is my favorite color on the FD.

BTW..I got new diff mounts from Pettit Racing. They're better than stock. $180 if I recall. If you road race or drag race, you also may want to consider solid motor mounts. They're not as bad as people make them out to be and make shifting much easier and precise too. I never saw you though, just all the kids looking the window, lol....

No, but its actually a blessing. Im getting my parts balanced and rotors lightened, and clearanced as we speak and my tranny came in today. Demetrios hooked me up with his guy that does his balancing and lightening of the rotors. Big thumbs up there. That should help too with spinning the motor really high.

What the heck, I thought your new motor was put together already. I guess I'm out of the loop

If you end up going to mason dixon, let me know I'll cheer for you and give you a hand with whatever wrenching needing done. Don't see alot of rotary power at the drag races around here.

Ernie its a T78, with a street port. Its a healthy one 440 rwhp at 15 psi on 93 octane. Once I shake down the problems its up to 20 psi with C16

Thanks for the advice with the Motor mounts. I checked my PPF for cracks its good, I should have my new mounts on in two weeks.

Do you know anyone whos got a used set ot ET streets that will fit the stock rims ? Not to be cheap but the mounts killed my budget for the fall test and tunes

That is healthy! I don't know of anyone selling a set, but I'll keep an ear out. You may want to save for new ones. Used tend to really suck cause ya just can't tell how beat they are. Rule of thumb is one season and pitch em. (sometime sooner).
