What different launching techniques is everyone doing from the burnout, stage, and launch?

For the burnout I roll just out of the water so my tyres are wet. Put the car in 2nd gear, rev it to about 7k and dump the clutch. Left foot goes straight on the brake and hold the revs between 6 and 8k until I see heaps of smoke out the back.

8.5/9k dump of the clutch and hang on for the launch.

last time i was at the track, i did a burnout in 1st until i saw a little smoke. launched at 7k and spun....the whole track. at the end of the track i was in 4th gear with the speedo at 145, but wasnt going any fast than the 14 second car next to me.

second pass was the same but i only launched at 3500 and still spun. my track sucks ***

Last year and before, I would bounce off the rev limiter (8K) and drop the clutch.

This year I'll be using a 2 step so we'll see how that works out

street tires = dont botheer doing a burnout..

i drove around the water box, lanched at 3.5-4k and cut a real good 60' iirc on stock n/a suspension. i have a pic somewhere, looks like i am going to hang the frontend if i go any harder

Roll through the box, spin them over in the water, roll right out of the water, put it in 2nd, rev to 6k or so dump the clutch, brake till nice and smokey( pit crew help here)

stage, hold her @ 7500-7800, dump the clutch and hold on.. on ET streets you should cut 1.5's or better

Btw, 2nd gear comes up fast, pretty much as soon as you hear the tires hook up your headin for 2nd, if not you hit the rev limiter...

With Street radials don't do any burn out. Not worth it. Drop the air pressure to 15psi, slip the rev it to 3500rpm and slip the clutch (don't drop it). I use to cut 2.0 60fts all day with stock turbos.

With Drag radials, wet the tires, roll into 2nd gear, rev it to 6000rpm and do a burn out. Them rev it to 7500rpm and hold on and smile. I managed to cut 1.8 with some worned out drag radials.

How do we properly launch the Rx-7 FD sequential twin turbo?

Im not sure if this is normal with Rx-7 FD in stock sequential twin turbo .........but everytime I launch at around 4000rpm and higher......my Rx-7(series 6) doesnt boost normally than when im just normally driving my Rx-7 and not doing any launch...then it boosts normally with the 10-8-10 PSI pattern

Also tried the same thing with my friends Rx-7 FD(series 7)....it boosts normally in hard normal driving but when we tried to do a launch from a standstill position...then it does not boost properly.

I dont know if theres a proper way to do it or both of our cars have problems

My Rx-7 series 6 complete emissions delete + airpump delete, intake and exhaust, CAT delete
My friends Rx-7 series 7 completey stock except for intake and exhaust, CAT delete

Don't take my word for it, I've only raced a few times, what I can gather from the other posts here is you need to come of the line at 6000 to 7000 rather than 4000, worth a try. With the rotary RPM is everything.

even though this thread was Necro'd something fierce, it does have me curious on how folks are launching. Personally I haven't been able to launch under power at all due to tire spin. Think I did a 2300-2700 rpm launch (if that's what you wanna call it) and managed a 2.2 60 ft on crappy street tires.

i've had some pretty good launches at 4-6k rpm but i don't drop the clutch, but rather set it down swiftly..., if i drop it from 5k it would bog.
but the bigger the turbo, the more rpm you need.

Roll through water, rev to 6k, dump clutch in 2nd gear with heel on brake and toe on gas pedal. Hold till smoke billows. This is on slicks, I'm contemplating doing them in 3rd as it takes time in 2nd.

This being an Rb20 rx7 however.

To get my 1.30 launches I did my skid 4th gear smoked the **** out of it lol
stage and hold up the handbrake hard and as you second bulb you engage just a tiny amount of clutch... just enough so you can hear it grab the revs or squat
foot flat two step drop handbrake clutch n go
did the same before I had two step just dropped the clutch at 7k ish or more
