In addition to the events above, NOPI will conduct two events not sanctioned by NHRA featuring sportsman racing and all the same lifestyle events synonymous with the NOPI Drag Racing Series. Those events will be held:

I was reading the rules for the Turbo Street class. 76mm is the max for us and 2700lbs min. which isn't bad. They now allow fuel cells which is a plus.

Nothing in the mid-west. I still may make a long weekend out of an eastern track.

Well the 2007 season is over!

 

I just noticed that, doh...I doubt they'll change much though.

 

Looks like a good schedule with tracks that usually get really good turn outs. I think this could be the start of something good. I hope i am correct.

No Cali? I thought the west side would have the best turnout.

 

Oh well looks like all the West Coast Racers will have to head over to the East Coast if they want to compete in this Series. I highly doubt many of the local Southern California Racers will travel 1500-3000 miles.

We all know this was coming,west coast racers and fans kinda fell off over the years, look at the englishtown and atco races, fans and racers are really into import drag racing over there, well Im allot closer to the races here in dallas so I see no problem with the new schedule, once I get my car done that is.....there is always the U.F.O. series, 11 import races all really close by

STREET CLASS QUICK 8 HEADS UP

PAYOUTS - $800 - Must have 8 qualifiers for full payout. Less than eight qualifiers will receive half the normal payout. Qualifiers must run 13.49 and faster.

CLASS DESCRIPTION
Heads–up Pro-tree (.400) class for Unibody vehicles with functional doors. D.O.T. tires allowed. Slicks are prohibited. Any 4 and 6 cylinder, 2 rotor and 3 rotor entries allowed. No air-cooled entries permitted. No restriction on power adder type or combination thereof. Any transmission allowed. Three qualifying passes permitted.

BODY
Import or domestic compact car bodies allowed. Vehicles must maintain the factory glass in windshield and front door locations. Lexan windows may be used for rear hatch only. Lightweight components limited to hood, doors, front fenders, decklid/hatch, and one-piece front ends allowed. Examples of bodies NOT permitted: Camaro, Trans Am, Mustang, Corvette, Grand National, etc. Examples of bodies acceptable for competition: Any Import car body, Focus, Cavalier, Sunfire, Neon, and other similar bodies.

INTERIOR
Doors must open and close from inside and outside the vehicle. No center drive configurations. Front seats must remain inside vehicle.

CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION
Full tube chassis prohibited. No center-drive systems. Wheelie bars are prohibited.

ENGINE
4 or 6 cylinder, 2 or 3 rotor engines allowed. Engine must be of automotive import origin. No air-cooled engines allowed. Engine block must be of the same make as vehicle competing. Motor swaps allowed as long as they stay within the same manufacturer.

POWER ADDERS
Turbochargers, Superchargers and Nitrous Oxide Systems permitted in any combination.

DRIVETRAIN AND TRANSMISSION
Stock driveline configuration must remain. Any type of transmission allowed.

EXHAUST
Must run at least one muffler with exhaust system that exits behind or within 12 inches from the rear wheels.

TIRES
All street class vehicles must use DOT approved tires. Slicks are prohibited.

FUEL
All street class vehicles must run on gasoline. Pump and racing gasoline are acceptable.

IGNITION SYSTEM
Any type allowed.

INTERIOR
There are no restrictions on interior.

Vehicles must have functional doors. All vehicles must retain factory chassis. Vehicles must maintain stock drive configuration.

ENGINE
Import vehicles may run 4,5, & 6 cylinder motors, as well as 2,3, & 4 rotor motors. Only one internal-combustion engine permitted in vehicle. Domestic manufactured vehicles are limited to 4 cylinder engines. Engine manufacture must match chassis manufacture. Brother company substitutions are allowed. Engine must be located and configured in OEM location.

POWER ADDERS
No power adders allowed. Power adders include turbochargers, superchargers, and nitrous oxide systems. Any use of any power adder will lead to immediate disqualification and forfeiture of any winnings.

DRIVETRAIN AND TRANSMISSION
Stock driveline configuration must remain. Any transmission allowed.

EXHAUST
Any type of exhaust allowed.

TIRES
Slicks allowed for FWD vehicles only. RWD limited to DOT approved tires.

IGNITION SYSTEM
Any type allowed.

Just one stop at MIR in 08 and its not even a NHRA sactioned event. Odd MIR seemed to be one of the strong markets.

 

Reason being, MIR isn't a NHRA track.

Don't see anything on weight min. I sent and e-mail asking about it, seems a pretty good series to look into besides the low payouts.better get rolling on the 808
