lexan window for 1st gen doors
I just picked up some fiberglass body parts for a 1st gen. but the fiberglass doors do not have the upper part where the window would normally meet when fully rolled up.
Im going to use lexan windows obviously. but how do i mount the lexan with out the outer metal surrounding?
or should i cut the metal surround off the stock doors and bolt it to the fiberglass doors.
ps... these doors weigh less than 5lbs each! i also got the hood, front fenders, front bumper, and front diffuser... thats basically all body parts except the rear bumper. this thing will be light!

thanks, but this is a stock chassis car. no metel is cut from the body at all. these fiberglass parts are stock replaement with no bod mods needed. not a tube chassis car like in the pics.
I think i will just have to cut the stock part off the door and mount it to the fiberglass door.
is there a place to buy 1st gen lexan windows premade? or would it be better to just cut them myself? i never done lexan windows before. this is the first time im building a dedicated track car.

what does the stock car and no metal cut out have to do with with the lexan being mounted on to your fiberglass door? it was a suggestion on how you could mount your lexan to the doors , your figerglass doors are not quite stock replacement when you have to modify them to get lexan to work.
I think so , since you want to keep the original stock chassis look. cut the window frame out of your doors and mount them to the fiberglass doors
I'm not sure if there is a place that sells the pre cut lexan for rx7 , but if I was you since you have to do some modifying I would just cut them. I've seen the smoke color lexan and it looks really nice and helps alot with the glare
