I went to NOPI this weekend and it was pathetic. Hardly any cars were racing and one of the Efantis guys told us that this year might be the last year of the NHRA Import series.

What happened to Saruwatari, Papadakis, Abel and all the veterans?

I believe that also.

That Nopi race had to suck. There were like only two cars max in every class and the only class that had more were full of domestics.

 

I think NHRA import will be around for a long time. NOPI on the other hand is done. NHRA does a lot to keep the classes even. Every NHRA event I have been too has been packed so far.

This year NOPI are letting domestics run against imports. I think they did this to get more of a turnout since last year was not that hot but it really is not helping, I think it's making things worse.

Efantis also said that NOPI has commited to 5 more years, also said that NHRA has tried to combine the two series but NOPI didn't want any part of it.

It's really a shame, I always go to Word Ford Challenge and that event is sooo much fun and the cars are ridiculous. I wish that the import scene had something similair.

 

Nopi will have to do something to get the pro racers back, not sure what but they are hurting for racers.

Most pro racers do not have the funds to commit to two differnet series and are forced to choose. Right now it apperas nhra is winning in racer turnout and fan base but all this can change only time will tell.

Also where are all the sportsman "rotary" racers. At this time there is only one and that is Dan.This is the real issue cause the sportsman of today become the pros of tommorrow.
