Spoke w/ Brain over at hinson.

Their bolt in package with either 9" or 12 bolt with all new parts would run roughly 5,500$..
3k of that is getting moser to custom cut/build the rear, and this includes all new brakes shocks/springs exct. so obviously can be done cheaper sourcing the rear end parts cheaper but...

Walked away, but was air lifted out to be safe. Heard he was doing fine. Lucky man!

LOL at $5500. I mean I am sure its a well put together kit but just cant see why anyone would spend that in not just do a KAZZ and driveshaft pro axles. = half the price. Unless you just wanted a bullet proof all out drag rear to do wheel stands!

Because they still break.

If you can do some of your own work, then you can get the cost down substantially. If you don't do alot of drag racing, then I would just keep the IRS. If that's all you do and do it often. Throw the IRS in the fricken trash can and get a real rearend.

I think its for all the v8 guys and their fancy torque, im ruling out the hinson seup out for obvious reasons. I think the dss pro kit is the best option for plug and play hands down. I found a few things not perfect in my rear suspension and I think they may be the cause of my faliures.

V8's have more torque but they aren't dropping the clutch at 8-10krpm's like we are doing and that's alot of wear and tear. Good luck on what you decide. I know I never have to worry about a broken rear end again.

Until you make enough power!

I have a friend that just broke his fancy big buck built 9 inch! Car runs slower times than me also. He was on drag radials. Turbo buick. Everything can break. But I agree hand down a solid rear is stronger but not always needed.

I call build error on that, but then again buicks are heavy cars and that makes a big difference. What broke?

it has a moser 9 inch ford rear end with an aluminum center housing with aluminum spool too..

it broke about 10 to 20 ft out... it ripped the bolts out of the pinion support, then got trans and exhaust... put 2 smalll dents in driveshaft, yokes and u-joints still intack....
